Happy Holidays from The Guided Hands Foundation Family!

Our volunteers spent the holiday delivering gifts and dinners from our “Santa Surprises for Seniors” program.

The holiday season is a joyous time of year for many people, but it can be lonely for many senior citizens who may not have family or friend to celebrate with.

According to AARP, about 28% of people age 65 or older live alone and have fewer relatives and friends to provide company and care, which can lead to social isolation. The holidays can be especially difficult for those living independently and may be lonely, and this year’s challenges are likely exacerbating this for many.

Guided Hands Foundation once again is pleased to help put a smile on a senior's face by donating an item to be included in a holiday gift bag, hand delivered Christmas Eve morning.

Items Needed: Socks, slippers, large print books, crossword puzzles, gift cards, puzzles, picture frames, hard candy,
lip balm, cough drops and tissues.

Show Thankfulness By Helping Others

Family, Friends and Sponsors! We invite you to join us in providing Thanksgiving Food baskets for families in need. With that endeavor our Food Drive is underway.

Food Donations (non perishable items) will be accepted beginning Wednesday, October 25th until Friday, November 10th at The African Hedonist, 8128 S. Cottage Grove (Mon-Sat from 12-5pm). A collection box will be available.

Items needed:
Turkey
Stuffing Mix
Canned green beans
Canned Yams
Instant Potatoes
Canned Cranberry Sauce
Boxed Mac & Cheese
Turkey Gravy (packet)
Cake Mix/Frosting

If you would like to sponsor a family/or families, a donation of $40 fills one basket. Donations are accepted on our website.
