Ukrainian Catholic University Foundation is proud to announce a transformative gift of $330,000 from Michael and Nancy Bohdan to support student scholarships at Ukrainian Catholic University (UCU) in Lviv.

This generous donation will fund 75 scholarships and strengthen UCU’s Physical Rehabilitation Program, empowering students who have chosen to stay in Ukraine and rebuild their country. Michael and Nancy’s generosity ensures talented, driven students have access to a world-class education at home, preparing them to lead and serve.

Inspired by their visit to UCU, the Bohdans see this gift as a way of giving back and investing in hope. It is a powerful affirmation of the resilience, promise, and future of Ukraine’s youth.

Archbishop Borys Gudziak, President of UCU, was elected the chairman of the Committee on International Justice and Peace of the US Conference of Catholic Bishops.

The committee assists the bishops, both collectively and individually, in advancing the social mission of the Church, within a culturally diverse community, through education, poverty awareness, capacity- and constituency-building, outreach, policy development, advocacy, and the organization of low-income communities.

Please join us in congratulating Archbishop Gudziak on this new ministry to achieve just peace in Ukraine and the world.

Through scholarships, medical and legal support, and community programs, UCU is changing veterans’ lives every day—and with your help, we can do even more. By 2030, 10,000 veterans are expected to complete UCU certificate programs, gaining the skills and confidence to thrive after service.

Metropolitan Archbishop Borys Gudziak, President of UCU, has been named to Ukrainska Pravda’s UP100 list—honoring Ukrainians shaping the nation’s independence and future.

This year’s list also recognizes members of the Ukrainian Catholic University community, including three alumni, a faculty member, and two UCU Senators, whose leadership spans society, defense, culture, journalism, and public service.

The 2025 UP100 theme, “The Edge of Choice / Choice on the Edge,” centers on leadership in the hardest moments—when choices demand courage, conviction, and responsibility.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations and gratitude to all those recognized for their service, integrity, and steadfast commitment to Ukraine’s future.

This Christmas season, UCU is expanding vital support for veterans and their families, including medical, legal, and academic services. These support programs change lives — directly, immediately, and profoundly. Your gift makes that possible.

This Christmas season, we’re seeing incredible resilience at UCU—especially from veterans like Illya Pylypenko.

After losing his leg below the knee and suffering severe burns in combat, Illya found healing through sport and a renewed purpose in education. Today, he’s a master’s student at UCU, with dreams to create a nonprofit that will help other veterans find strength and community through sports.

UCU’s growing programs for veterans—including scholarships, medical and legal support, and rehabilitation—make stories like his possible.

Your generosity allows UCU to remain a place of hope and progress, even in the face of winter hardship and uncertainty. Please make your year-end gift today to empower more veterans and students shaping Ukraine’s future: https://ow.ly/4sbG50XIy1g

There’s still time to make a Giving Tuesday gift that doubles in impact.

UCU stands as a beacon of values-based education in Ukraine—shaped by the vision of Archbishop Borys Gudziak and strengthened by a community of supporters who believe in a brighter future.

The new Metropolitan Gudziak Endowed Faculty Fund ensures that UCU can attract and retain exceptional faculty who inspire students to study, stay, and lead Ukraine’s renewal. If you haven’t yet participated today, please consider making a gift to sustain this historic work.

Every donation is matched dollar-for-dollar through December 31, helping secure UCU’s faculty for generations to come.
