These girls are happy. 🧡

Happy to do their chores.
Happy to have a clean, safe place to sleep.
Happy to be surrounded by people who love and care for them.
Happy to learn and receive a quality education that can change the trajectory of their lives.

And most importantly, they are being reminded every day that they are seen, valued, and deeply loved by Christ.

Sometimes change doesn’t look like a big moment.

Sometimes it looks like a bucket in your hand, a clean dorm, a classroom, a warm meal—and a smile that says, I belong here.

This is why we build.
This is why we show up.
This is why we keep going.

Because every child deserves the opportunity to rise and shine.

Sometimes poverty isn’t about someone not working hard enough.

Sometimes the starting line is buried so deep you can work your whole life and still never catch up.

That’s the part of poverty we don’t always see.

It’s the price of fuel.
The cost of getting to work.
The lack of opportunity.
The broken systems.
The things we take for granted that can become enormous barriers when you have almost nothing to begin with.

And that’s why Sunbeams doesn’t just want to give people something today.

We want to build something that changes tomorrow.

We come alongside the people of Kijjude to build schools, dormitories, systems, skills and sustainable solutions—things that create a stronger foundation for children, families and an entire community.

Because sometimes a handout gets you through today.

A hand up can help change the trajectory of a life.🧡

We’re only halfway through our A Seat at the Table campaign, and through cheerful givers - we’re already at 444 seats sponsored.

That means 88% of our goal is covered.

444 seats.
56 seats left.
One table.
One dining hall.
One place where these kids can sit, eat, pray, learn, and belong.

And every single seat represents someone who said, “Yes. I’ll help.”

We’re so close now.

They’re back! 🧡
Third term is here 📚

And for some of these kids, walking through those gates means something bigger than going back to school.

It means food.
A safe bed.
A clean uniform.
Someone sitting beside them when the homework gets hard.
Someone reminding them that their story is not finished.

These kids aren’t looking for a handout.

They’re fighting for a future.

And we get the privilege of standing in the gap.

So today, we celebrate the backpacks, the smiles, the muddy shoes and the beautiful chaos of another term beginning.

They’re back.
They’re learning.
They’re growing.
They’re rising.

And we’re not stopping.

Plates being filled.
Laughter around the table.
And a child realizing, “There is a place for me here.”

That’s what A Seat at the Table has always been about.

And today, we are overwhelmed with gratitude because we are getting SO close.

When we started, the goal was 500 seats.

Because of so many incredibly generous people who have stepped up and given—some for one seat, some for many—we now have:

376 seats sponsored.

Only 124 left.

And this isn’t just a number.

It’s a child who will be fed.
A child who will learn.
A child who will hear about Jesus.
A child who will know: you matter.

Every gift has moved us closer. Every person who has shared, prayed, given, or rallied others around this has helped build this table.

Now we need 124 more seats by September 30.

Let’s finish the table. 🔥

500 children.
One table.

This is what “A Seat at the Table” looks like.

A plate of rice and beans.
A dirt path.
A little girl carrying her lunch.
And a smile that doesn’t tell you how hard life can be here.

At Sunbeams, children show up hungry. Their families are doing everything they can with what little they have.

They deserve more than simply getting by.

They deserve a place to sit. A place to eat. A place to belong.

We’re building that place.

Our goal is 500 seats.
Right now, 64 have been sponsored + 32 matched = 96 seats.

404 seats are still empty.

The work isn’t finished. The need hasn’t disappeared.

So we keep building.
We keep believing.
And we keep making room at the table. ❤️

This isn’t just a plant sale. Every purchase helps put a seat at the table for children in Uganda. 🪑❤️

We’re selling beautiful plants to help raise the remaining funds needed to complete the Dining Hall & Chapel at Sunbeams Uganda—a place where more than 500 children will be able to gather, eat, worship, learn, and belong.
