Woke Chicago We strive to create change from the inside out by working hard to re-invent a wellness culture of impact that is rooted in unity, equity, and love.

Our work disrupts inequity in well-being by creating access to trauma-informed movement and mindfulness programs within under-resourced Chicago communities & schools. a minority female-led non-profit organization (501c3) formed in response to 2020's cries for racial justice in America & COVID-19's impact on communities of color.

Sometimes care looks like a conversation. Sometimes it looks like a steady breath, an intentional movement or a room full of students choosing to pause together.

During Su***de Prevention Awareness Week, Woke Chicago joined students at Olive-Harvey College for a trauma-informed yoga experience centered on movement, mindfulness and connection.

Yoga is not a substitute for mental-health care or crisis support. But creating spaces where students can slow down, reconnect with themselves and feel supported can be one meaningful part of a broader culture of care.

We’re grateful to Olive-Harvey College and City Colleges of Chicago for continuing to make student well-being part of the campus experience—and to every student who showed up exactly as they were. 💛

If you or someone you know needs emotional support, call or text 988 or visit 988lifeline.org. Support is available 24/7.

Who has access to the tools that help us heal?

That question led to the creation of Woke Chicago in 2020, and it continues to guide our work today.

This Juneteenth, we honor the resilience, wisdom, and contributions of Black communities. We celebrate Black joy, collective care, and the power of community.

We also recognize that freedom is connected to access, opportunity, wellbeing, and the ability to thrive.

Because healing is not a luxury.

It is a necessity.

Happy Juneteenth. ❤️🖤💚
