WHERE IS CHICAGO ON POLICE ACCOUNTABILITY?
Yesterday morning I represented our Network 49 community organization at a south side meeting of Chicago police accountability activists. Then in the afternoon I went to WBEZ's radio station at Navy Pier to be interviewed about the status of our work. The interview was broadcast this afternoon. They scheduled 10 minutes for the taping, but told me that it would be trimmed to a 5-minute segment.
Ugh, with 100+ issues to consider I tried to raise a lot in every sentence. I tried my best, but while driving home afterwards I thought of a dozen issues I failed to address. I’m sure much of the interview will be left on the cutting room floor.
The radio crew - an interviewer, producer, and editor in the recording studio - all said I was impressive. I hope I don’t end up sounding like Trump struggling to come up with a coherent thought!!!!
At the link below, please READ the edited text summary of the interview and then LISTEN to the edited clips of the interview. They are different!
WBEZ talked to Michael Harrington, who sued the city for police reform, about changes in the Chicago Police Department.
