We, here at BQAC, are devastated by the loss of our cofounder, Ed Negron; the impact he has made helping found BQAC and on the community at large, from sharing his input on our humble beginnings during our 10 year anniversary documentary video last year, to helping individuals cope with mental health, substance abuse, and finding their identity. Our hearts, thoughts, and prayers go out to his family and friends during this time.

Our cofounder Mikey Oboza has shared his thoughts on his relationship with Ed over the years:
Mikey Oboza, BQAC cofounder (formerly Brother Michael Oboza) remembering Ed Negrón, BQAC cofounder:
"I was supposed to go first, because I was a radical rebel to Ed's class act political correct unsung hero. To have been gifted meeting Ed, I'm grateful to have been changed for the better by understanding gratitude on a lived experience level. Thank you Ed for helping us be more visible. We will miss you."

Thoughts from Auggie, our Vice President:
“Ed was an amazing individual with a heart of gold, I got to learn more about his humble beginnings with the org documenting this last year via video for our anniversary. He cared so much for people, their overall well-being and helped Bi folks feel more visible throughout his impact in our community. Losing him and his shining light will be felt by us all, we miss you Ed and love you dearly.”

A candle vigil will be held in honor of Ed’s legacy tomorrow, 7/29, at his former employer 64Ten at 8pm.
