The next book club is Tuesday, May 6 at 7:30 pm at Reclaimed!!

We'll be discussing "Lula Dean's Little Library of Banned Books" by Kirsten Miller.

There are two other fantastic resources to check out before this next book club.

"The ABCs of Book Banning" - an Academy Award nominated short documentary: "Centenarian, Grace Linn, confronts a Florida School Board, opposing book banning in local schools. Children express disappointment over losing access to vital titles on LGBTQ and racial issues, wars, and the realities of growing up." available on Paramount Plus.

"Free for All: The Public Library" a feature documentary: "tells the story of the quiet revolutionaries who made a simple idea happen. From the pioneering women behind the “Free Library Movement” to today's librarians who service the public despite working in a contentious age of closures and book bans, meet those who created a civic institution where everything is free and the doors are open to all."

Don't have time to read or watch - join us anyway! There's sure to be much to discuss about the freedom of information.

Hope to see you there!

The recent domestic terrorism in Buffalo, NY, is tragic and horrifying. We are heartbroken for the families that lost loved ones taken too soon, and we honor the victims of this deadly racist attack by creating safe and brave spaces in our own community to talk about racism, gun violence, and white supremacy in an effort to break the cycle, come together, and put an end to lynchings in this country.

If you're like us and don't know where to start, here's a good resource:

Help young people reflect on and discuss the issues raised by the mass shooting incident in Buffalo, NY.
