Today, we proudly recognize and celebrate Women Veterans Day, honoring the courageous women who have served and continue to serve in the United States Armed Forces.

June 12 marks the anniversary of the Women's Armed Services Integration Act of 1948, which granted women the right to serve as permanent, regular members of the U.S. military. Since then, generations of women have answered the call to serve with dedication, strength, and sacrifice.

On this special day, we thank all women veterans for their service, leadership, and commitment to our nation. Your contributions have helped shape our military and strengthen our communities.

You go, Abbi. Way to promote the construction trade. Chicago Painters District Council 14.

At 24 years old, Abbi Donovan "felt stuck" working "odd jobs" in Chicago — from the golf course to acting and waitressing -- all without health insurance. She knew she would be kicked off her parents healthcare plan in two years and need to take action -- that's when she joined the IUPAT. Today, Abbi has healthcare, earns a great living, and loves her job -- likening it to a big puzzle and arts and crafts project.
