All mammals have hair, even ones we don’t think about such as whales and dolphins. Hair morphology can be used to help investigators classify a sample that was confiscated in a wildlife crimal investigation. Using hair alone to identify a specimen is not possible but it can be used to help exclude some species and provide information to warrant additional testing such as genetic classification.
