Urgent Community Call: Help Us Prepare for Tomorrow’s TPS Media Event

Dear Community Members,

This urgent action comes ahead of the confirmed July 10, 2026 TPS work authorization deadline impacting Haitian TPS holders, families, workers, students, caregivers, business owners, and communities across the country.

Tomorrow, Thursday, July 9, Chicago will join communities across the country for a National Day of Action and national call to action in solidarity with Haitian and immigrant families.

As Haitian TPS holders face the July 10, 2026 work authorization deadline, we are coming together for an urgent TPS media event tomorrow at 5:30 PM at the DuSable Bust at Pioneer Court, 401 N. Michigan Avenue, Chicago, IL 60611.

We are holding a strategy meeting tonight on Zoom at 8:00 PM to prepare for tomorrow’s media event.

Please join us tonight. We need voices, presence, coordination, outreach, and community support to make sure Chicago shows up strong and united.

Now is the time to raise our voices. Our neighbors, friends, coworkers, church members, students, caregivers, business owners, and loved ones need to know they are not alone.

While TPS may be temporary, people’s dignity, safety, humanity, and right to keep their families together are not.

Dear Members of the Haitian Community,

The Coalition of Haitian American Organizations is calling on our community to come together for an emergency meeting on Monday, June 29, in response to the recent Supreme Court decision affecting Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haiti

This decision has created uncertainty for thousands of Haitian families and has significant implications for our community. It is imperative that we understand what this ruling means, where we go from here, and how we can respond collectively.

This meeting will provide an opportunity to:

Receive an update on the Supreme Court ruling and its impact.

Discuss the current legislative efforts to protect TPS and the role our community can play in advocating with the U.S. Senate.

Identify coordinated actions we can take as organizations, leaders, and community members.

Discuss additional long-term initiatives to strengthen and support Haiti and the Haitian diaspora.

This is not a meeting for organizations alone. We are asking every concerned community member, faith leader, advocate, business owner, student, and ally to attend. The challenges before us require a unified and organized response. Our collective voice is strongest when we stand together.

For the very first time in the history of the City of Chicago, the Haitian flag will be raised at Daley Plaza in recognition of Haitian Heritage Month.

Join the Coalition of Haitian-American Organizations in Chicago as we celebrate the culture, resilience, contributions, and legacy of the Haitian community right in the heart of downtown Chicago.

If you work downtown, take your lunch break with us.
If you are part of the Haitian community, come stand proudly with us.
If you are a friend, ally, supporter, or neighbor, we invite you to be there and witness this historic moment together.

This recognition did not happen overnight. It reflects years of advocacy, organizing, and community voices coming together to ensure Haitian heritage is seen, honored, and celebrated in one of the greatest cities in the world.
