Coming to Tamarindo, Costa Rica between now and December 6?

A little room in your suitcase could help support our Angel Tree celebration.

Following the success of last year’s event, Hope Across Borders is organising our 2nd Annual Angel Tree for 50 children from local families with limited financial resources.

We’re collecting gifts that encourage creativity, learning, and active play. Some ideas:

• Building blocks, construction sets, and puzzles
• Crayons, sketchbooks, paints, and craft supplies
• Modelling clay and bracelet-making kits
• Soccer balls, skipping ropes, frisbees, and outdoor games
• Dominoes, matching games, and stacking games
• Toy animals, vehicles, dolls, and pretend-play sets

Families visiting our community space often ask how they can contribute locally. This is a practical way to take part, whether you’re travelling here, live nearby, or know someone coming our way.

Drop off items at Guanacaste Children’s Community Center in Huacas, near Tamarindo, from now until December 6.

This Canadian Thanksgiving weekend, Hope Across Borders was grateful to support another community outreach day at the Guanacaste Children's Community Center - Worldschooling Education Hub, welcoming children from the El Llanito neighborhood for a day of recreation, connection, and a Thanksgiving meal shared together.

From swimming and zip-lining to trampolines and time around the table, the day was about more than having fun. It was about creating welcoming spaces where children can build friendships, experience something new, and make meaningful memories together. 💛

Through community initiatives like these, Hope Across Borders works alongside GCCC to help create opportunities for local children and strengthen the connections that make communities thrive.

Because giving back doesn't always have to be complicated. Sometimes, it starts with opening a door, sharing a meal, and making sure more children have the chance to be part of something special. 💙

One act of generosity can create opportunities that last far beyond a single journey. 💛🌎

Recently, a traveling family visiting Costa Rica donated sports and recreation equipment to the Guanacaste Children's Community Center - Worldschooling Education Hub in Huacas, Costa Rica.

Because of their generosity, these resources will create opportunities for local and traveling children to play, connect, build friendships, and learn together through our community programs and community events.

At Hope Across Borders, we believe meaningful travel is about more than discovering new places.

It's about building relationships, strengthening communities, and creating opportunities that continue long after the trip has ended.

To this incredible family, thank you for reminding us that even a single act of generosity can create a lasting ripple effect.

🌎🤝 Community Service in Action 🤝🌎

We had the privilege of welcoming 27 students from to Costa Rica, who chose to dedicate part of their travels to meaningful, hands-on community service. 💛

The day brought together multiple communities and initiatives:

🌊 A beach clean-up in Tamarindo with

🎨 Time spent at the El Faro Feeding Center in El Llanito supporting with painting, upkeep, and preparing lunch

🌿 And continued efforts at — gardening, woodworking, and caring for shared spaces

Experiences like this show how education, community, and collaboration can come together to create meaningful impact.

We are especially grateful for the group’s generous donation, helping continue to support community initiatives and expand access to education and recreation. 🌎
