Chetopa Spring Fling 2025

UPDATE: ‼️‼️We will not be painting tomorrow due to weather. Our paint requires 24 hours to cure. Since it’s raining today, 50% chance tomorrow and supposed to be bad on Sunday, I am calling it off. We will post when we get a new date.

We are seeking volunteers to participate in painting the light poles on Main Street scheduled for April 11th at 9am, weather permitting. As part of our ongoing efforts, we have allocated funds from last year’s Spring Fling to paint light poles, and we will commence this project on April 11th. The city has requested that we paint the lower half of the poles or as far as reachable, while they will complete the upper sections. We kindly request your understanding as we work in phases, with the city's team following to finish the remaining sections. If you are available to assist, please respond with a comment, send a message, or join us at Chesnutt Park on April 11th at 9am. We appreciate your support.

We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Chuck Bentley, his son-in-law Dillion Cook from Pro Blades, Chetopa FFA, and Jim Nave, Pauline Weiland, and Gerald for their diligent efforts in cleaning up Chesnutt Park and surrounding areas. We appreciate your kindness and assistance. Thank you to Tammy Bushong for creating a post in Chetopa Residents to acknowledge those deserving of recognition. We would also like to express our appreciation to Brenda Dominquez for retrieving signs from Vital Signs in Columbus, Troy Scoggins for visiting Metal Fab in Miami, the city of Chetopa for upgrading the electricity on the pole by Chesnutt Park, Nikki Rathjen, Maggy Robison, Betsy Koontz, Beth Johnson, Jena Darnell, Rebecca Scoggins, and Theresa Kabrey for their tireless work in various capacities. We are grateful for the volunteers who will be assisting on the day of the event. Thank you to our community for coming together to make this event possible!

The Spring Fling committee is looking for volunteers for Saturdays Spring Fling, this could be a student needing volunteer hours, a young adult or even a parent or grandparent willing to help out in a couple areas on Saturday. Message me if interested. There will be a two hour limit so you can enjoy the event too. Help us make this a huge success!
