Every community has names we recognize, but behind those names are stories that have shaped generations. Too often, those stories are never recorded, shared, or preserved for the future.
The Names You May Know, But the Stories You May Not is more than a seriesโit is an opportunity to capture the voices, wisdom, sacrifices, triumphs, and lived experiences of African Americans who have helped shape the rich fabric of Chester, South Carolina.
By listening, we honor those who came before us. By documenting their stories, we preserve a legacy that might otherwise be lost. These stories remind us where we have been, help us understand who we are, and inspire us to thoughtfully shape where we are going.
Join us as we celebrate the power of storytelling, community, and history.
