Today marks the 5th anniversary of the Abbey Gate terrorist attack–the deadliest attack on Americans in Afghanistan since 2011. The catastrophic withdrawal from Afghanistan directly caused the deaths of these 13 brave service members.

We will never forget those who made the ultimate sacrifice. 🇺🇸 ⭐

We will always HONOR their selfless Sacrifice and REMEMBER them individually by Name.

The deceased from the Marine Corps include:

· Staff Sgt. Darin T. Hoover, 31, from Salt Lake City, Utah

· Sgt. Johanny Rosariopichardo, 25, from Lawrence, Massachusetts

· Sgt. Nicole L. Gee, 23, from Sacramento, California

· Cpl. Hunter Lopez, 22, from Indio, California

· Cpl. Daegan W. Page, 23, from Omaha, Nebraska

· Cpl. Humberto A. Sanchez, 22, from Logansport, Indiana

· Marine Corps Lance Cpl. David L. Espinoza, 20, from Rio Bravo, Texas

· Lance Cpl. Jared M. Schmitz, 20, from St. Charles, Missouri

· Lance Cpl. Rylee J. McCollum, 20, from Jackson, Wyoming

· Lance Cpl. Dylan R. Merola, 20, from Rancho Cucamonga, California

· Lance Cpl. Kareem M. Nikoui, 20, from Norco, California

In addition to the 11 fallen service members from the Marine Corps:

· Navy Hospitalman Maxton W. Soviak, 22, from Berlin Heights, Ohio

· Army Staff Sgt. Ryan C. Knauss, 23, from Corryton, Tennessee

As we comfort the Families left behind, we continue to hold them in our prayers and thoughts.

🇺🇸 There is one award, the most costly to ever exist, yet no man or woman desires to achieve it. The Purple Heart. While many recipients are wounded warriors living among us today, we honor the servicemen and women who received the Purple Heart by giving up their lives while defending our country.

This award reflects the highest form of self-sacrifice. These service members sacrificed so that we can live free. Our country, our families, and each one of us are all honored by their sacrifice, and today, we honor them by remembering them.

⭐ Gold Star Children’s Day: They carry a hero’s legacy every day.

Today, on Gold Star Children's Day, we pause to recognize some of our nation's quietest heroes... the children of our fallen service members.

HONOR and REMEMBER remains passionate about comforting, honoring, and supporting our nation's military surviving children. They have endured so much and remain living legacies of their fallen parents' service and sacrifice to America.

In honor of Gold Star Children's Day, we are reminded of the hundreds of gifted flags that have touched the lives of those who never met their parents or knew them for a very short time. No matter the age, they are never be forgotten.
