It has been a minute since we have updated but it has been very busy and The Link newspaper has done a wonderful job keeping everyone informed since I have been extremely busy! I will update with all of last months results on all of the wrestling! This weekend is STATE AND 106 LowerState Champion Slick Isaac goes ring chasing! We will go live for all of his matches weigh-in is at 11:00 AM on 02-23-24 and 1st round wrestling will start at noon. STAY TUNED!

We learned yesterday! It was a good day and I was proud of the guys. We started off the day with Hanahan and ended up tied 42-42 and lost the match on criteria. The next match we wrestled host Timberland and lost 45-39 close one that could go either way in the future. Next was 5A White Knoll which put us in our place 😂 with a 72-12 whoopin! Then we bounced back against Bishop England winning 45-33 and ending the day beating Marion 78-6! Guys are working and we will continue to fight til the final whistle! Next week we go to Hartsville on Thursday we have our region (team) meet on Friday in Buford and Finish the week Saturday at the Marlboro Duals in Bennettsville. We are now 15-8 on the season! Tonight was a good night. I cant say everything went exactly to plan but it all worked itself out! Cheraw beat Trinity Collegiate in the first match 78-6. The Braves final match of the night the boys wrestled hard and came away with a 45-36 victory over the Wilson Tigers! Senior night went well for Hwt Tyson Caulder and Mark Robinson as both picked up bigs wins against Wilson! Thanks to Coach Porter and Coach Tim Adams for being on the live and trying their best to commentate it! Thanks to the fans who came out to support…that is the largest crowd we have had for wrestling in sometime. The Braves travel to Timberland Saturday for a dual tournament we will keep ya up dated as of now the Braves are 13-5 on the year!

Despite injury and sickness the Braves beat AJ last night 65-18! The guys wrestled well and brought it! Senior night is Thursday 1-11 and will be here at Long Middle against Trinity Collegiate and Wilson! Come out and support the Braves as we welcome back Coach Porter and Coach Pegues! This week was a middle school / JV week as they had their state qualifier on Saturday 1/6! MS 96 Jacob Rutzler came in with a 4th place finish and Torry Chaneyfield and Jaylen Pounds had 3rd place respectively @ 120 and 145! In the Hwt division Charlie Holter came in 2nd! Long had a strong showing in Aynor placing top 10 with mostly 5A programs! Our JV team also with a top 10 and the lone placer of 132 Joel Alpheus with a 3rd place finish! Things heat up this week with us hosting AJ tonight 1/8 then on 1/9 heading to Hartsville for a Tri match and the JV middle school and youth program will wrestle as well! Thursday is our Senior night @ home against Wilson and Trinity Collegiate come out and support the program! We wrap up the week at the Timberland Duals Saturday 1/13! Coach Mabry

We started back at it today! We have an overnight tournament that we are doing fundraising for however we need the communities help. It is 300 for the tournament and it is 400 for the rooms and i would like to buy snacks and dinner for the kids. If any business or members of this group would like to help out message me please I might do a calendar and you pay the date you pick. Trying to get better and give the kids the experience I had a Cheraw Wrestling! The tournament I am referring to is the Dreher Invitational on 1-5-24 and 1-6-24. Thanks in advance Coach Mabry!

Its been a long but successful week. We started on Monday in Darlington beating the Falcons and Trinity Collegiate and then on to Wednesday where we beat Cfield and lost a tough one to Hartsville 51-29. Thats a vast improvement as we have been handle by them in the years past without mustering a point. The past two nights we were in Lugoff for the Demon Holiday Classic and as I knew it would be was very tough. Laced with 5A and 4A teams including 5A #1 Summerville the Braves placed 17th out of 28 teams. The Braves finished in front of the only other 2A team 15 ranked Fairfield Central and every 3A team there. Leading the way Hwt Tyson Caulder with a 3-1 record and a second place finish. 106 Slick Issac was 3-3 and a 6th place finish and 140 Tripp Mabry 3-2 and 150 Tristan Marquiss 3-2 both with 10th out of 28! 126 Prince Williams also had a good tournament going 2-2 and gaining mich needed experience! The Braves are 10-5 on the year and look to come back stronger after the Christmas break! From the Braves family to you have a Merry Christmas 🎄🎁 and a Happy New Year’s!

The Braves were at it again and picked up two more wins to go 5-1 on the season. It was a total team effort as we wrestled Marlboro first and came away with a 62-24 win. The Braves the went against our rival and it was close through the first 4 matches then the boys pulled away and got the victory 57-24! Got to keep the momentum going this Saturday @ the Ram Rumble in Chesterfield starting at 9am. We will wrestle 5 matches this Saturday! Also the middle school has the Warrior Duals starting at 530 on 12-8-23 come out and support the young men and women! Coach Mabry
