Meet Cheech & Chong, formerly known as Bear and Moose at Bartow County Animal Control. These boys are only 6–8 months old, and their future was already decided. We were told they wouldn’t make it up for adoption because there wasn’t enough space at the shelter. They were too big for the puppy kennels and too small for the medium-to-large dog kennels, so their fate was euthanasia. We went and got them.
When they came to Sacred Hearts Men’s, they were scared, quiet, just quivering, and extremely underweight and malnourished. You could tell their young lives had already seen way too much. But after being loved on, fed, cared for, and shown that they were safe, they’ve become two completely different dogs.
We aren’t exactly sure what they are, but we think they may be Rat Terrier/Jack Russell mixes. They’re small and will stay small. Chong is the bigger one, more docile and timid. He’s still a little scared of the world, but he absolutely loves love and wants to be close to people. Cheech is the smaller one and is much more curious, outgoing and adventurous. Both boys have done well with kids and other dogs, and honestly, I think they’d probably be scared of cats. 😂
We’ve been working hard to get their weight back up and get them healthy, and now Cheech and Chong are ready for their forever homes. They can be adopted together or separately.
