‼️Sensitive content, Images of sick kittens.

Last week looked a little different for us at Shiva Foundation.❤️‍🩹

😞 We were only able to spay and neuter 6 cats this week, which is lower than our usual numbers because our time, resources, and funds had to be redirected elsewhere.

💔Abi brought in 2 kittens from a Georgia colony she is working on whose eyes were completely sealed shut with infection. We truly thought they had already lost their eyes. The moment she cleaned them, pus immediately came out. They are now safe, receiving eye drops, oral antibiotics, and recovering.❤️‍🩹

💔 Another tiny kitten from a downtown colony we are working on, only around 2 to 3 weeks old, came in with a severe arm infection. Our vet diagnosed a bone infection and he is now on antibiotics while we wait and hope he responds well.😞

💔 We also had to take in a mama cat and her 3 kittens because they were at risk and staying outside was no longer safe for them.

❗️Most of our funds go toward spay and neuter because that is what stops the cycle at the source. But sometimes cats need more than that.😞

We are not backed by large funding. We are just people showing up for these kitties every day 🥺

❤️ Those who support us are the reason these cats get a second chance. From helping feral moms and stopping the cycle, to caring for sick kittens.

❤️ We are still averaging around 60 cats fixed each month, and with more hands and support, we can do even more during this tough kitten season.

If you would like to be part of our team, please reach out. The more humans involved, the more kitties get help ❤️

❤️ Transparency matters to us, and we wanted to share a glimpse into the amount of community cat requests we are currently handling as a very small team.❗️

Right now, our primary focus is TNR (Trap Neuter Return). We are not a rescue and unfortunately do not have the resources, facility, or funding to regularly take in animals. ❗️ Our goal is to reduce suffering at the source by preventing more homeless cats from being born.❗️

❤️ With every TNR request we get, we truly believe every problem has a solution and we try our best to make every situation work, from Chattanooga and surrounding areas all the way to areas nearly 3 hours south into Georgia.

❤️‍🩹 Many of these communities have little to no access to clinics or affordable spay/neuter services, and we are trying our best to fill those gaps.

‼️ Current Project Load:
🐈‍⬛ 8 ongoing projects from last month’s requests
🐈‍⬛ 153 cats total from those requests
🐈‍⬛ May 1st - 15th: 15 new requests
🐈‍⬛ 101 cats requested for help this month alone

🥹 All of this is being handled by just 3 wonderful humans pushing hard every single day for these cats.

❤️ If you would like to support our mission, there are many ways to help:

❤️ Sponsoring a spay/neuter surgery or Project.
❤️ Donating cat food, p*e pads, paper towels, traps, or carriers
❤️ Helping with transport to clinics
❤️ Volunteering during trapping or recovery days
❤️ Sharing our posts and spreading awareness about TNR
❤️ Connecting us with low cost clinics or resources in underserved areas
❤️ Monetary donations to help us continue scheduling surgeries

Every single bit of support helps!

We feel incredibly blessed and grateful to everyone standing beside us in this mission for community cats.

Last week, we were able to help 19 cats total. ❤️

❤️ 16 cats were spayed/neutered, 1 cat found a home, and 2 kittens were rescue transferred to safety.

We also wanted to thank Kiah for sending us kitten supplies and thank you to Felix’s mom for sending canned kitten food. We truly need a lot of kitten food right now and are very grateful. ❤️

A huge thank you as well for the monetary donations we received from Cheryl Patrick, Emily Ducatte, and JD Cooley. Your kindness helps us continue helping community cats who desperately need care. ❤️

❤️ A little update on the feral mama and her kittens. She is doing so well and has been an amazing mom to her tiny nuggets. She’s been enjoying lots of canned kitten food to keep herself healthy and fed while caring for her babies.

❤️ The 2 kittens from the colony we worked on last week ended up coming into our care so we could get their mom fixed. Both kittens are currently recovering from diarrhea, but they are safe, comfortable, and getting the care they need.

❤️ Thank you to everyone who continues to support us, encourage us, and help us keep going for these cats. Every donation, share, supply, and kind word truly matters.

Community cats did not choose to be born outside. Most are there because humans failed them through abandonment, lack of spay/neuter, or generations of neglect. 😞

❤️ Caring for them is up to us. Truly caring for them means more than just feeding them. It means doing TNR❗️

❤️ Trap Neuter Return is one of the most compassionate things we can do for community cats. It prevents endless suffering, painful pregnancies, sick kittens, fighting, injuries, and generations of cats struggling to survive outdoors.

❤️ TNR allows them to live healthier, safer lives while slowly reducing the number of cats born into suffering.

❤️ Feeding them keeps them alive today.
TNR protects their future.

❤️ Community cats deserve kindness, respect, medical care, and people willing to stand up for them.

If you have community cats in your area multiplying without help, please reach out to us for TNR assistance by filling out our assistance form or messaging us through our social media pages.

Project Sunspot 🧡

This was dedicated to a very special soul who left a lasting mark on this world.❤️‍🩹

When I read the eulogy his dad sent us, I cried. To know how deeply he was loved, and how much love he gave in return, was truly moving.

❤️ Sunspot, a 16 year old orange tabby who was once abandoned but found his way into a loving home, lived a life full of quiet strength, loyalty, and his own unique way of showing love through gentle presence, slow blinks, and always wanting to be close to his person. His dad beautifully said, “Thank GOD/YHVH he decided to put cats on the planet and he loves his kitty cats! Even GOD's/YHVH's only begotten son was and is the LION of the Tribe of Juda!!” and that love truly reflects the life Sunspot lived.🧡

❤️ In his memory, and thanks to the generous donation from his dad, we were able to fix 25 community cats from his donations, creating a ripple of impact that will prevent suffering and give so many others a better life.

This is Sunspot’s legacy.🧡😸

APRIL IMPACT & GRATITUDE ❗️❤️

Every number has a story… and behind each one is a life that mattered ❤️

In April, we were able to:
❤️ Help 78 community cats
❤️ Complete 62 spay/neuter surgeries
❤️ See 2 adoptions into loving homes
❤️ Welcome 1 new team member
❤️ Donate 90 lbs of food to colony caregivers.

🌟 Today, we especially want to take a moment to thank the incredible veterinarians who make this mission possible.

A heartfelt shoutout to:
❤️ Dr. Sarah Callahan – for always being there for us, and for your kindness and dedication.
❤️ Dr. Adam Winn – for your commitment to helping community animals.
❤️ Dr. Robyn – for relentlessly working to get as many cats fixed as possible.
❤️ Dr. Ramsey – for helping treat and care for community cats.

🥹 Because of you, we are able to do more. Because of you, fewer cats suffer.

And to our supporters, donors, and volunteers ❤️ thank you for standing with us. None of this would be possible without you.

This is the reality of community cat work. Hard. Emotional. But worth it.

I had the chance to treat my team to lunch as a small way to celebrate our anniversary and everything we’ve been doing together.

It’s impossible to put into words how grateful I am to be working alongside such kind, dedicated people. This journey wouldn’t be what it is without each one of you.

A very special shoutout to our FFT (Feral Force Team) who are out there every single day in the sun, rain, and everything in between trapping cats, helping people, and showing up for our community without hesitation.

So proud of this team. So grateful for all of you.

👀Through my eyes — the part you didn’t see last time.

A lot of you watched the last video, but it didn’t show one of the most important steps… setting the traps.

This is where it all begins. Quiet, patient, and very intentional. Every placement matters. Every movement matters. Because one small mistake can mean a missed chance to help a cat.

This is how we make TNR happen. Not just surgery day, but everything that leads up to it.

I’ve uploaded this video with original audio so you can truly experience what it’s like in the moment.

From the field… to surgery day.... this is the reality of helping community cats.

Starting this week with so much gratitude ❤️

I came home to a walkway full of packages, and it truly brought tears to my eyes.

Every donation means so much to us and will always be used with care for the kitties.

I wish I could thank each of you individually. We aren’t always able to see Chewy donors, and most Amazon packages didn’t include gift notes this time. I even reached out to Amazon but couldn’t get much help.

Thank you JM Barker — your note was the only one we received, and it meant a lot ❤️
Thank you Laura Moynihan for sending cat food ❤️
And thank you Hannah for the divider — this will help Abigail safely handle feral cats ❤️

To everyone who chose to spend their hard earned money, especially during tough times, to think of us and help these kitties… we are deeply, deeply grateful.

This Week at Shiva Foundation❗️

This week pushed us to our limits. We are exhausted, physically and mentally.😅 But if it doesn't kill us, it will make us stronger 💪❗️

❗️Abi took in a neonate after his mom disappeared. We waited 5 hours, then she fostered him with her full- tome job, and drove over an hour multiple times trying to reunite him… but he was sadly rejected.

❗️In another colony, on trapping day, a newborn kitten was found dead. The reality is, around 75% of kittens born outside in colonies don’t make it. This is why fixing cats matters.

❗️We also trapped a feral mama who went into labor. We moved her to a safe, quiet space, and by morning she delivered 3 kittens. She is now safe, warm, and cared for with her babies.

❤️ Through all of this, we still helped 26 cats
❤️ 17 spay/neuter
❤️ 4 rescue transferred
❤️ 1 cat rehomed
❤️ 4 in foster care

😭 So proud of our team. Abi for going above and beyond while working full time, and Claudia for pushing through TNR.❤️

Even after losing his home to a fire, Matthew is still out there every day caring for these cats.❤️

We met Matthew, who is looking after nearly 20 community cats in his neighborhood. Despite everything he’s going through, he hasn’t turned his back on them.❤️

😞 Many of the cats are dealing with severe diarrhea, likely from drinking water from a small creek on the property that is blocked and filled with algae and contaminants. Even with clean water available, they keep going back to it. We’re working with him to address this creek issue so the cats have safer access to clean water.

❤️ We’re also getting all of them spayed and neutered, treated, and supporting Matthew with cat food so he doesn’t have to carry this alone.

This is what community looks like.❤️
