When we "lean" on our own understanding, we fall prey to the sin of arrogance. Humans tend to be "human" centered. We think we know best, in all things. Over and over again, we are exhorted in Scripture to "trust in God." He is faithful to direct our path. Our best bet is to let God be the one to tell us what to do. Our own understanding just doesn’t cut it. We have to step out of our own way and let God do the leading. Anything else is foolish pride.

Dear God, you are all powerful! There is nothing you cannot do. Your strength knows no limits. You protect your children and fight for them. We are in awe of you, O Lord. No one compares to your majesty. When I begin to rely on anyone or anything other than you, help me to remember that all my strength comes from you and you alone. May I live a life of praise for my King. In Jesus' name, amen.

We have a responsibility to one another, to believers and non-believers, to act in accordance with God's word. We owe a debt to all of humanity, a debt of love and service, and God asks that we do not judge those that will not receive us. When we surrender to God, we soon realize that the Kingdom of Heaven is not just waiting for us, it is already all around us. Thanks be to God.

I am a person of faith and therefore, I do not focus upon the things that are seen with my natural eyes, and which are temporary and subject to change according to the word of God that I speak, but I focus my attention on the things that are unseen in the spirit realm that shall stand forever more. ( 2 Corinthians 4:18)
I firmly believe the word of God that I am a person of faith. I walk by faith and not by sight; I talk by faith; I live by faith and I therefore have an expectancy to receive that which I pray for by faith. (2 Corinthians 5:7)

We are encouraged to not worry about anything, but to put our trust in God instead, and pray about all things. Prayer is how we communicate with God; and He always hears us when we speak. As you pray, pray as if the prayer has already been answered - that is faith. As you do so, you will find that your heart will be filled with a kind of peace that cannot be shaken by any trial or circumstance. That peace will keep you sound and sure through many challenges, and you will be able to be at rest.

When we call on God in truth, He promises to be near. But what does it mean to call on Him in truth? We come to God seeking Him as He is, not as we simply want Him to be. God has revealed Himself in Jesus, who is the Truth. And He has given us the truth of His word so that we may know Him and call on Him.

Have faith in God. Trust that the Lord will take care of you. What comes tomorrow is going to come regardless. Detach yourself for a moment from the hustle and bustle of modern society. Take a moment to contemplate what matters to you and what matters to God. Notice birds flying, singing, and eating. God takes care of them; He will take care of you.

There is a great encouragement in these words: "We are more than conquerors." Not just that we are conquerors; we are MORE than conquerors in Christ. That means we win. Against everything, we win. How is it that we win? We win because, once we commit to Christ, nothing can take that away from us. Paul declares, "Nothing can separate us from the love of Christ." NOTHING. What a wonderful promise! There are so many things that separate us from the ones we love on this earth: death, divorce, bad blood, conflicts of all kinds. How reassuring to know that our relationship with Christ will never be breached and that through Him, we will be victorious conquerors!

Walking in the light is much easier than walking in darkness. In darkness, we can trip over debris, step in puddles and ditches, or even wander off of the path entirely. It is no surprise that God promises to brighten our path when we walk in His righteousness, and that the light grows to its full noon-day brilliance the more we walk with Him.

What is it that you think about when you first wake up? Your busy day? Spouse? Children? Work? Money? Or is it God? The teachings of our Lord and our Savior Jesus Christ have been passed down for thousands of years, and it is our duty to continue to pass the teachings and traditions down to future generations. He should be in our minds with everything we say, do, and even think. With God as the stronghold of your life, of whom shall you be afraid?
