Are you on top of HR Trends, Tips, and Best Practices for 2024? Let me help you out!

The Top Six Most Anticipated Interview Questions of 2024.

Presented By: Your HR Queen Connector and The Career Connection! 👸

#1. Tell me about yourself.
📚This question is one for the history books! “Tell me about yourself is an interview question that isn’t going anywhere,” and all the career experts will tell you the same. This question allows companies to learn more about the candidate and equally discover what they might bring to their company and culture. This is considered the “connecting question” of 2024.

#2. What motivates you?
📚 This is another question that is here to stay for the foreseeable future. By asking what motivates you, employers can better understand what candidates need to perform at their best as a member of their team.

#3. How have you used artificial intelligence (AI) in your past jobs?
📚AI continues to evolve, and employers will start asking this question as a standard question in job interviews to see how comfortable job seekers are using it. This question allows an employer to learn how innovative and efficient the candidate may be and if they can bring AI to the job, role and company.

#4. Why is there a gap in your employment?
📚The reasons for employment gaps will always be important to employers, and this question will always be an essential interview question for companies. Companies want to know the truth regarding employment gaps. In a post-COVID era with more than 250,000 workers impacted by layoffs in 2023 (Layoffs.fyi) employers are more understanding of gaps in employment and are extending more grace and mercy than ever before when it comes to valid and proven employment gaps.

#5. Why do you want to work at this company?
📚In 2024, businesses are more focused than ever on fostering genuine connections within their teams. They want to know that prospective candidates are not just interested in any job but genuinely believe in the mission and culture of the company. “Why do you want to work at this company?" goes beyond a standard interview question. It's about understanding the importance of building strong relationships between companies and their employees.

# 6. How do you handle ambiguity?
📚In the ever-changing job market, employers value individuals who can thrive in uncertain situations. It's important for candidates to showcase their ability to complete tasks with limited information or experience. Employers need to know a candidate can effortlessly pivot when faced with unexpected challenges.
📚Adaptability is a crucial soft skill. Employers need to hear a real-life example of how future employees will tackle unforeseen circumstances at work and the positive outcome it led to.

Summer Newsletter
A note from our President:

Dear ATD Members,

The ATD Chattanooga Chapter is moving forward from our Covid days with hope and opportunity for our local ATD community.

The COVID-19 pandemic has been extremely difficult, particularly for our small businesses. As the economy pushes forward and we resume an in-person approach to life, we all hope for a brighter tomorrow while operating in a new normal of virtual meetings, people working from home and the great resignation being a reality for all who are seeking to hire and retain talent.

The strain of the past two years has served as a stunning reminder of how connected each of us are, in good times and challenging times. If we can lean into those connections and foster even stronger relationships, our local businesses and organizations will be able to come back stronger than ever.

The ATD Chattanooga Chapter offers many opportunities to network, to learn and to engage. I hope that you’ll consider our services and membership to help you better navigate through your talent development needs.

ATD Chattanooga is here to connect talent and resources, invest in skills development, and work to build the Chattanooga area's workforce, and we hope you will choose to be a part of our innovative organization. We’d welcome your participation as we all navigate into this next phase, together.

I look forward to seeing you at an upcoming ATD Chattanooga Chapter event – in-person! – soon.

All my best,

Donna Christian - Lowe
