Good Morning ATO ☀️

Here is Our Daily Bread reading for today!🥖

Grappling With God

Genesis 52:22-32

A longtime friend sent me a note after my husband’s death: “[Alan] was . . . a grappler with God. He was a real Jacob and a strong reason why I am a Christian today.” I’d never thought to compare Alan’s struggles with the patriarch Jacob’s, but it fit. Throughout his life, Alan struggled with himself and wrestled with God for answers. He loved God but couldn’t always grasp the truths that He loved him, forgave him, and heard his prayers. Yet his life had its blessings, and he positively influenced many.

Jacob’s life was characterized by struggle. He connived to get his brother Esau’s birthright. He fled home and struggled for years with his kinsman and father-in-law, Laban. Then he fled Laban. He was alone and afraid to meet Esau. Yet he’d just had a heavenly encounter: “The angels of God met him” (Genesis 32:1), perhaps a reminder of his earlier dream from God (28:10-22).

Now Jacob had another encounter: all night he wrestled with a “man,” God in human form, who renamed him Israel, because he “struggled with God and with humans and [overcame]” (32:28). God was with and loved Jacob despite and through it all.

All of us have struggles. But we’re not alone; God is with us in each trial. Those who believe in Him are loved, forgiven, and promised eternal life (John 3:16). We can hold fast to Him.

Good Morning ATO family! Let’s talk about forgiveness! I know at times we may feel as if we are the worst sinners in the world. I know I can beat myself up! Seems like we just seem to keep doing the same bad things over and over. We feel guilty! Can God just wink at our sins and pretend that everything is all right? How can he repeatedly forgive us for committing the same wrongs? The apostle John said: "My dear children, am writing this to you so that you will not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate who pleads our case before the Father. He is Jesus Christ, the one who is truly righteous. He himself is the sacrifice that atones for our sins and not only our sins but the sins of all the world" (1 John 2:1-2). God takes sin very seriously. As a righteous judge, he can't just ignore sin and act as if it doesn't matter. But he forgives us completely and repeatedly. The words used here are legal terms. Jesus is our advocate, our defense attorney in a court of law, who intercedes for us, the law-breakers. But he is not only the defense attorney; he is also the sacrifice that atones for our sins. This means that Jesus' death has been accepted by the court as admissible payment for all of our sins. We are all guilty. The sentence is death! But our sentence has already been paid by Jesus. When we bring our sins to Jesus, he goes back to the judge, his Father, on our behalf, reminding him that our sentence has already been paid. Thank you Jesus! This is Hope to anyone especially The Hopeless! God bless you all and have an amazing day! ☀️😞🙏💔✝️❤️‍🩹💪🙌

Good Morning ATO family Happy Fourth of July! I want to encourage you today that regardless of your situation or circumstances if you are living for Jesus you’re truly blessed. We talked about the word blessing and how it’s defined in the world at church last Sunday and it stuck with me. You can be blessed and highly favored without a successful career, lots of money and material possessions. You can be blessed and struggle throughout life! Look at Jesus’s mother Mary. Mary was very poor and her situation wasn’t the most ideal. Being pregnant out of wedlock in her culture wasn’t acceptable. Don’t you think she was scoffed at and cast away by people. She wasn’t married, wasn’t living with her soon to be husband and was a teenager pregnant by the Holy Spirit! Look at her situation. Her story remind’s us that being blessed has nothing to do with our situation, but instead our faith and attitude! Mary’s story shows us that blessings aren’t about our dreams or aspirations, but instead about God’s purpose. It isn’t about what you get. It’s about His Glory and getting His Glory out into the world. There are times we don’t feel or see the blessing of our situation at the moment. I was blessed in a prison cell but I didn’t see it that way at the time. I was blessed by my hopelessness and isolated from the world. Nothing made sense at that time but today brothers and sisters I see the blessings and I am so grateful! In the midst of Mary’s storm she praises God! Being blessed is not about us, it’s always about Him! The sooner we realize this the sooner we can be blessed in attitude and spirit! Remember this as you go about your day! I sure hope your thankful today for all you have, all you been through and understand how truly blessed you are! As always you already know it’s Hope to the Hopeless! ☀️🙏😊✝️💙🙌
