LSA’s Statement Regarding Recent Incidents of Police Brutality. LSA stands in solidarity with the Black community and we want to show our support by buying supplies for protesters and dropping them off at designated donation points set forth by local organizers. If you can, please donate to our Venmo: and we will use those funds to buy what protesters need (water, masks, snacks, etc). Also, if you already have supplies you would like to donate and just need them transported, those would be appreciated as well! We are donating $100 from our organizations fund for the upcoming large protest on Saturday (06/06) plus additional donated money. But there will be future protests and we will be using donations to help aid those with supplies as well.

We understand not everyone can protest, but everyone can find ways to actively help those who are putting themselves at risk to fight for justice for our Black communities. So please: donate and share. on Venmo.

During these hard times it is essential to acknowledge that what is happening to our Black communities is far beyond injustices.

Unfortunately, the death of George Floyd is not a singular incident. His death is one of the many black lives that have been lost to police brutality. It is NOT the time to be a silent ally. It is time to support and empathize with our families, friends, and others in the Black community. This is a human rights issue that demands change from its roots of institutionalized racism in this country.

Today we want to emphasize the role some of us have as Non-Black Latinx Students to show up in solidarity. Put into action some of the things we’ve detailed today. We challenge you to do more than reposting this. We challenge you to share a resource with a friend, have a difficult conversation, make a donation, call someone out, etc. When reposting, tag us along with ALSO and share what you’ve done, in hopes of inspiring other Latinx students.

BLACK LIVES MATTER, and always will. Start by educating yourself, have conversations, go protest, and donate if possible. There is so much you can do to support this community. In the link provided below you can find different resources to do so. It all starts by taking a step forward, recognizing the place that one takes, and owning your impact and the effect that it can have on others.

Our responsibility as a University community is to conjure up new ways of imagining inclusivity, solidarity, and infrastructural systems of support for all of its students, staff, and faculty, particularly those who are marginalized and face daily struggles because of it.
