Hello everyone! We have FINALLY created a page!
UVA's Friendship Walk is going to be held at The Park (600 Massie Rd, Charlottesville, VA 22903) on Sunday, April 16th, from 1:30 - 3:30pm. It will start with speeches from buddies and peer buddies, poster decorating, a half mile walk, and will end with a dance party, yard games, and some yummy treats! We are hosting this walk on Grounds because the closest OFFICIAL walk to UVA is in Washington D.C. and it is not feasible to get our entire chapter there.
A little about more about the Friendship Walk:
- One of the biggest fundraisers of the year for Best Buddies!
- The leading walk in the country supporting inclusion for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
- Since 2009, more than 150,000 participants in 60 cities have walked to raise awareness for inclusion, friendship, leadership development and integrated job opportunities for people with IDD.
- Funds raised at the Friendship Walks help move the mission forward by funding local Best Buddies programs. Every dollar raised goes towards making the world a more inclusive, accepting place.
