Ever had someone shake up a can, hand it to you, and it explodes when you open it?

It’s easy to blame the person who shook it.

But the real question is, was the issue the shaking, or what was already inside?

In leadership, pressure works the same way.

It could be our circumstances, our relationships, the challenges around us…

They don’t create what comes out of us. They reveal it.

A lot of leadership focuses on behavior, but real change doesn’t start there.

It starts at the heart.

Because the truth is, "the body always goes where the heart leads".

If we want to see real change in our organizations, our communities, and the people we serve, we have to ask:

Are we addressing behavior, or are we getting to the root?

💬 Question:

What has helped shape your leadership at the heart level, not just behavior?

This week we talked about measuring leadership through both hard skills and soft skills.

And it’s interesting…

Most leaders don’t struggle with both.

They usually lean one way.

Some are strong in:
• structure
• ex*****on
• decision-making

Others are strong in:
• relationships
• communication
• trust

But leadership breaks down when one side is missing.

Because strong leadership is not just effective, it’s also relational.

💬 Conversation:
Where do you naturally lean?

1️⃣ Hard skills
2️⃣ Soft skills
3️⃣ A balance of both
4️⃣ Still growing in both

Leader Lines | Measuring Your Leadership

How do you measure your leadership?

Do you look at your results or "how" you lead?

In this week’s Leader Line, Andrew breaks leadership into two important categories:

Hard skills and soft skills.

Hard skills help you:
• make decisions
• build systems
• execute effectively

Soft skills help you:
• build trust
• communicate clearly
• develop people

Most leaders tend to lean heavily one way or the other.

But healthy leadership requires both.

Because leadership isn’t just about getting things done.

It’s about how people experience your leadership along the way.

Yesterday we posted a chart of the 4 Cs of both the hard and soft skills that Andrew shares in this video. Take a look and save the image for yourself.

At Impact Partners we’ve seen leaders growing not just in what they do, but how they lead.

Most people think leadership is one thing.

It’s not.

It’s actually two.

Hard skills and soft skills.

And the leaders who grow the most are the ones who develop both.

🗓️ Tomorrow we’re sharing a new Impact Leader Line breaking this down.

💬 Question:

Which side do you think leaders tend to neglect more?

04/16/2026

Lately I’ve been thinking about something simple, but important.

When we talk about leadership, we often focus on results…
getting things done, hitting goals, moving things forward.

But what if that’s not the full picture?

What if the better question is:

What is your leadership actually producing?

Because leadership always produces something.

It produces culture.
It produces health (or lack of it).
It produces the kind of environment people either thrive in… or struggle in.

So maybe it’s not just about outcomes.

Maybe it’s about the kind of fruit our leadership is creating over time.

📊 POLL:

What is the primary “fruit” you see leadership producing most often? (Drop your number in below and add a comment.)

1️⃣ Team culture & environment
2️⃣ Clarity & direction
3️⃣ Results & performance

Impact Leader Lines | Fruit Stapling in Leadership

What does healthy leadership actually produce?

Not just results.
Not just activity.

Fruit.

Because leadership isn’t measured by how busy we are, but by what’s being formed in us and through us.

We are seeing firsthand how leaders are stepping back to reflect, grow, and evaluate what their leadership is truly producing.

Because the right kind of leadership creates healthy and growing fruit.

Not fruit that is stapled on.

What kind of “fruit” have you seen come from healthy leadership?

This week we’ve been talking about investing in leadership.

Not just as an idea…

But as something we’ve seen lived out in real time.

Through our recent Team UP / Lead UP training with Cooperative Christian Ministry, we saw leaders step away from the day-to-day to grow, learn, and reflect.

And it raises an important question:

What actually happens when organizations invest in leadership?

We’ve seen:

• stronger teams
• clearer direction
• healthier cultures
• more sustainable impact

Because leadership development doesn’t just affect the individual.

It impacts everything around them.

That’s also the vision behind Charlotte Next—developing leaders who are ready for what’s ahead.

And it’s why Impact Partners CLT focuses on helping leaders make the right matches so they can grow in the right environments.

One of the most important decisions an organization makes is this:
What are we investing in?

Programs?
Operations?
Growth?

Or leadership?

In this week’s Leader Line, Andrew reflects on why investing in leadership development is not optional, it’s foundational.

Because strong organizations don’t just happen.

They are built by leaders who are:
Growing
Learning
Being developed
And supported over time

We recently had the opportunity to see that in action through our Team UP / Lead UP training with Cooperative Christian Ministry.

Leaders in the room weren’t just gaining information. They were investing in their ability to lead well.

And that investment doesn’t stay in the room. It flows into teams, organizations, and the communities they serve.

That’s also what Charlotte Next is about, developing leaders who are equipped to step into what’s next

Impact Partners CLT exists to help leaders make the matches they need to grow, because leadership development doesn’t happen in isolation.

Question for our community:

Where have you seen investment in leadership make the biggest difference?
