Another successful endeavor of Lake Norman Wildlife is the Young Explorers program offered in partnership with Cornelius Parks and Recreation this year. With the help of the Cornelius Boat Patrol, LNW leaders were able to bring school age children to explore Lake Norman to enhance an appreciation of the natural environment and help establish a conservation mindset from a young age. Lake Norman Wildlife had a visible presence at two local Earth Day events on this April. The morning was spent at the Davidson Earth Day Festival followed by the Earth Jam Celebration in Cornelius in the afternoon. Between the two, LNW was able to engage with over 1000 community members to educate and promote its mission of protecting, conserving and restoring wildlife and habitat in the Lake Norman area.

Huge shoutout to our incredible partners at Carolina Cruising Charters for Captain Isaiah’s BIG trash haul yesterday! 👏🗑️🌎

With Memorial Day Weekend approaching, fresh trash was piling up on the lake — and Captain Isaiah stepped up to help keep Lake Norman clean before the holiday crowds arrive.

What makes this even more impressive? It wasn’t even their officially adopted island. That’s the kind of community partnership and stewardship that makes a real difference on our lake. 💙

We are extremely grateful for partners like Carolina Cruising Charters who go above and beyond to protect and preserve Lake Norman for everyone.

Thank you, Captain Isaiah and the entire Carolina Cruising Charters team! ⚓♻️

🌸🌿 Happy First Day of Spring! 🌿🌸

The days are getting longer, the temps are warming up, and nature is coming back to life right here in North Carolina! 🐦🌞

One meaningful way to celebrate the season? Turn your yard into a haven for pollinators 🦋💛

If your yard already supports native plants and provides food, water, and shelter for wildlife, consider registering it as a Pollinator Pitstop along The Butterfly Highway!

👉 Already qualify? Make it official and put your habitat on the map! You can even order a garden sign to mark your territory!
👉 Not quite there yet? No problem—spring is the perfect time to start planting and creating your own pollinator-friendly space. You can even get seed packets directly from NCWF that contain seven different species to help begin, or bolster, your garden. Or, visit one of our favorite local nurseries below who offer a plethora of native pollinator plants and trees!
