One of our favorite days of the year happened this week as we celebrated with our annual PACTS Day event for 1st graders in Lincoln County at Betty G Ross Park! Over 1000 students and teachers joined us for PACTS Day, which stands for Protecting All Children Through Safety! The weather was perfect, the kids and teachers were great and we can't thank all our partnering agencies enough for making the day happen!

When a lithium-ion battery reaches the end of its useful life, what you do with it matters.

Lithium-ion batteries do not belong in your household trash or regular recycling bin. When damaged or crushed during collection and processing, these batteries can ignite and create dangerous fires in garbage trucks, recycling facilities, and waste facilities.

Help protect your home, our sanitation workers, and our community:
✅ Take used batteries and rechargeable devices to an appropriate battery recycling location.
✅ Follow local guidance for proper battery disposal and recycling.
❌ Never place lithium-ion batteries in household trash or curbside recycling.

Tomorrow is International Walk to School Day - a reminder that we share our streets and neighborhoods with our most vulnerable road users, kids! Take some time today to talk to the children in your life about being safe while walking to and from school. Whether your planning to take part in a Walk to School Day event tomorrow or not, remind them to look left, right, and left again before crossing the street. Always walk on sidewalks or paths, cross at street corners, and use traffic signals and crosswalks.
