Drowning can happen quickly and quietly, making it the leading cause of injury-related fatalities in children aged 4 and under. Pools pose a significant risk for kids between 1 and 4 years old. 🏊‍♂️🚨

Floaties, swimming lessons, or lifeguards (who are responsible for multiple children, not just yours) cannot substitute for attentive adult supervision! Always remember: parents must remain vigilant at all times when watching their children. Your presence ensures their safety.

This summer:
âś… Stay within arm's reach of children aged 1 to 4
âś… Get trained in CPR for both children and adults. Visit our website linked in the comments below for more on CPR training!
âś… Avoid distractions like social media, texting, or checking emails while supervising. Designate a focused parent to monitor the swimmers.
✅ Never assume another adult is watching your child. As parents, it’s our duty to ensure our kids are safe!

Summer is around the corner. It's an exciting season for families, and often includes outdoor activities, vacations, and time away from school. But it’s also a time known as “summer trauma season” among health professionals because unintentional injuries and deaths increase dramatically among children. Here at Safe Kids, we want to make sure parents and caregivers are aware of potential hazards and provide them with tips that they can use to reduce injury risks. With the right tools, parents and caregivers can feel confident no matter the season.

It’s Bike Safety Month! Did you know that properly fitted helmets can reduce the risk of head injuries by at least 45%? Get the proper fit for your safety gear by doing a helmet fit test with your kids!

Here's how in three simple steps:

1. Eyes: Put the helmet on your head. Look up. You should see the bottom rim of the helmet.

2. Ears: Make sure the straps form a "V" under the ears when buckled. The straps should be a little tight but comfortable.

3. Mouth: Open your mouth as wide as you can. Does the helmet hug your head? If not, tighten the strap.

Voila, you're done! Something as simple as wearing a helmet (properly!) can make a big difference in keeping your child safe. 🚴🏿
