We want to give a HUGE shoutout to Addiction Professionals of North Carolina (APNC) for choosing DACI as a grant recipient!

Their support is helping make our 9th Annual Iredell Walk for Recovery possible, and we couldn’t be more grateful!

This event is all about bringing our community together to celebrate recovery, remember those we’ve lost, support those still fighting, and remind people that recovery is possible.

Thank you, APNC, for believing in this event and investing in our community. We can’t wait to walk together! 💙💚

Last week, our community gathered by candlelight to remember the lives lost to overdose.

Behind every candle was a person.

Someone’s child.
Someone’s parent.
Someone’s sibling, partner, best friend, or neighbor.
Someone who was loved, who mattered, and whose absence is still felt.

Every life lost to overdose leaves an empty chair, an unfinished story, and people who would give anything for one more conversation, one more hug, or one more day.

We cannot change the lives we have already lost, but we can honor them through what we do next.

We can keep showing up. We can keep educating. We can keep making resources available. We can keep fighting stigma. And most importantly, we can remind people who are struggling that they are worthy of help, hope, and another tomorrow.

To everyone who joined us last week, shared a story, lit a candle, or simply stood quietly beside someone who was hurting—thank you.

May we continue to carry the light for those who are no longer here and for those who are still finding their way home. 🕯️

Behind every life lost is a family, a group of friends, and a community that still misses them. 💜

This Thursday, August 27, we’re coming together to remember those we’ve lost and support the people who are still here.

We’ll share a meal at 6:30 PM at Christ Church, followed by a candlelight vigil. 🕯️

Come as you are. Bring someone with you. Bring a photo or simply bring the memory of someone you love.

Sometimes just showing up for each other matters more than we realize.

We LOVE partnering with organizations that are committed to making Iredell County a safer place.

Recently, we had the opportunity to work with Iredell-Statesville Schools to provide opioid overdose education and Narcan training for school staff. We also donated a ONEBox educational training video kit to each of the district’s 39 schools, so every school has access to these life-saving training resources whenever they’re needed.

We hope these kits are something schools NEVER have to use in an emergency—but we’re thankful our teachers and staff will have the knowledge and tools to respond if that day ever comes.

A huge thank you to Iredell-Statesville Schools for partnering with us and for being proactive about keeping students, staff, and our community safe. Education saves lives, and we’re SO grateful to be part of that mission. 🤍

Today, the entire DACI family joins our community in mourning the unexpected loss of Pam Navey.

Pam was so much more than an advocate, humanitarian, and community leader. She was someone who made people feel like they belonged. She gave freely of her time, her heart, and her unwavering belief that EVERY PERSON MATTERED.

When our Project Coordinator, Callie, joined DACI, Pam was one of the very first people to take her under her wing. She welcomed her, encouraged her, and reminded her that she wasn’t alone. Every conversation they shared ended the same way: “I love you.” That wasn’t just something Pam said—it was how she lived.

Pam loved this community deeply. She loved her “sweetheart” (Michael) fiercely. She loved music, and she was always the familiar face we looked for at Piedmont Folkways events. Somehow, seeing her there always made it feel like home.

The impact Pam made can’t be measured by titles or accomplishments. It’s found in the LIVES she touched, the people she encouraged, and the love she so freely gave away.

Our hearts are with Michael, her family, and everyone who is grieving this incredible loss. May we honor Pam by loving our neighbors well, serving without hesitation, and showing up for one another the way she ALWAYS did.

Rest easy, Pam. Thank you for leaving this community better than you found it. You will be deeply missed, but we promise to carry on your legacy of love and service.

May we all live as fiercely as Pam did. 🤍

Investing in stronger communities starts with investing in knowledge!

DACI Project Coordinator Callie and Board Member Alex recently attended the CADCA Midyear Conference in Orlando, where they spent the week learning from prevention leaders, sharing ideas with coalitions from across the country, and exploring new approaches to address substance misuse and support healthier communities.

Every opportunity to learn is an opportunity to grow. By bringing back new perspectives, practical tools, and meaningful connections, DACI continues to strengthen its commitment to serving Iredell County and creating lasting, positive change through collaboration and prevention.

Together, we’re building a healthier future—one partnership, one conversation, and one community at a time! 💙💚

This week, DACI joined coalition leaders, prevention professionals, and changemakers from across the nation at the CADCA Midyear Conference in Orlando.

We came home inspired, energized, and equipped with innovative strategies, valuable partnerships, and evidence-based tools to strengthen prevention efforts throughout Iredell County.

Every conversation, every workshop, and every connection reinforced one important truth: lasting change happens when communities unite around a shared vision. 💙💚

🔹Join us Monday, July 20th, at DACI’s monthly coalition meeting 🔹

We are excited to welcome our guest speaker, Lori Bosma, a licensed professional counselor and trauma specialist who works with non-profits, first responders, healthcare professionals, military personnel, and other helping professionals.

Lori will discuss the connection between trauma, stress, burnout, and substance misuse, while sharing practical strategies for building resilience and supporting the behavioral health of those who serve our communities.

Her presentation offers valuable insights for anyone working in prevention, treatment, recovery, or community wellness.
