$5 FRIDAY! 💚

It’s Friday, which means we’re asking our Sloan & Finn family to help us tackle the little expenses that add up quickly. 🐾

Right now our girl Hazel is bringing in some of our biggest upcoming medical expenses. Hazel has her post-op appointments, suture removal, medications, and continued recovery ahead of her. She’ll also need to start her vaccines, have a wellness exam, eventually be spayed, and stay current on her monthly preventatives.

And Hazel isn’t the only one! Almost all of our dogs are coming due for their monthly preventatives. Some of our younger dogs need them month-to-month as they grow, while others receive a six-month supply. Puff, for example, is coming up on his six-month prevention refill.

Buzz and Forest will need their preventatives as well as wellness exams, and Indie is due for another heartworm retest.

These may sound like small expenses individually, but they add up FAST. Prevention alone can cost $30–$60+ per dog, depending on the medication and the dog’s size. Add wellness exams, testing, medications, vaccines, surgery, and follow-up care, and suddenly those “little” expenses become a pretty big bill.

That’s where $5 Friday comes in.

Meet Trudy — our smart, sweet, cuddly girl who is looking for her next foster or forever home! 🐾

I’ve personally been fostering Trudy for the past few months, and I can honestly say she has been an absolute joy. She was originally placed with another foster family, but we quickly learned that she would do best in a home without young children. So, I happily stepped in and have been fostering her ever since.

There was never really a rush to move Trudy to another foster home — until last week, when we pulled Hazel, our sweet amputee girl.

A lot of our time and attention is understandably going toward Hazel and her recovery right now, and we’ve realized that it isn’t quite fair to Trudy when we can’t give her as much one-on-one time and attention as she deserves.

So, we’re actively looking for a foster home for Trudy!

Trudy is:

FOREST COMING SOON 🌲

Meet Forest! At just 1.5 years old, this handsome terrier pit mix has already been through more than any dog should. After spending over a year in a shelter, Forest is finally getting the chance to learn something he should have known all along: humans can be safe, kind, and loving.

Forest can be timid when he first meets you, but give him a little time and patience, and his sweet personality starts to shine. He’s formed a special bond with his foster’s teenage son and is very interested in playing with kids — proof that there’s a playful, affectionate pup underneath that shy exterior.

And this boy LOVES to have fun! He enjoys:
🌲 Walks & hiking
🎾 Fetch & tug-of-war
🦴 Treats & snacks
🚗 Car rides
🛋️ Snuggling with his person
💤 And, of course, being a couch potato!

He can keep up with an active family on an adventure, but he’s equally happy spending a lazy day relaxing at home.

Forest is crate trained and potty trained, and he’s incredibly smart and food motivated. He’s still learning some of the little things that come with living in a home, including counter surfing and getting comfortable with certain technology noises. He’d also love a family who is willing to continue his training — and who knows, maybe even introduce him to some fun activities like hurdles!

More than anything, Forest needs patience, understanding, and unconditional love.

He doesn’t need a perfect family. He needs a family willing to respect his shyness, give him time to build trust, and show him every single day that he is safe, loved, and finally HOME.

If you’re looking for a loyal companion who may take a little time to open his heart, but will make it so worth it when he does, Forest may be your guy.

BUZZ IS COMING SOON! 🐾

Meet Buzz, a lovable Bulldog mix with a BIG heart and an even bigger love for his people. ❤️

Buzz is happiest when he’s getting belly rubs, playing fetch in the backyard, going for a short walk, or simply lounging beside his favorite humans. If your dream dog is someone to scratch his ears, rub his belly, and watch football with, Buzz might just be your guy! 🏈🐶

He’s dog-friendly, potty trained, crate trained, and great with kids 10+. He’s also working hard on his manners, including keeping all four paws on the floor and walking nicely on leash. He’ll need a family who is willing to continue his training with patience, consistency, and plenty of positive reinforcement.

Buzz is still getting settled with us, but his forever family is out there — and we can’t wait to help them find each other. 🐾❤️

Meet Charlie 🤎🐾

Some dogs walk into your life and immediately demand attention. And then there’s Charlie — the sweet, laid-back boy who quietly steals your heart without even trying.

Charlie is a 3-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier mix who is happiest simply being with his people. Whether he’s relaxing around the house, going for a short walk, or just hanging out by your side, Charlie is content as long as he’s with you. 🥹

Since coming into foster care, Charlie has been taking his time settling in, and we’ve loved watching his confidence grow and his personality shine a little more every day. He’s house trained, crate trained, loves having a routine! He can also do well with other dogs when given proper introductions!

Charlie is currently heartworm positive and undergoing treatment, but his forever family won’t have to take that on alone! Sloan & Finn will continue to cover and support the remainder of his heartworm treatment if he is adopted while he’s healing.

More than anything, Charlie is looking for someone patient enough to let him become comfortable at his own pace. Once he knows he’s safe, you’ll have a loyal, affectionate best friend who just wants to be part of the family.

Some dogs come into rescue and immediately steal your heart. Indie is one of those dogs 🥹🐾

So we’re introducing her again in hopes that the right person finally sees what we see.

Indie is a sweet, gentle pittie mix who truly just wants to be loved. She’s happiest curled up next to her people, going for a car ride, or simply hanging out nearby. She’s affectionate without being overwhelming, quiet, easygoing, and incredibly adaptable.

And the best part? Indie is basically everyone’s friend. 🥰 She does wonderfully with dogs, cats, and kids, and she would happily fit into an apartment, townhome, or house. She doesn’t need a huge backyard or an action-packed lifestyle — she just needs a family who will let her be part of theirs.

Indie is also currently undergoing heartworm treatment, but her future family will never be left to handle that alone. Sloan & Finn Animal Rescue will continue to cover and support her heartworm treatment throughout her adoption. ❤️

Somehow, this handsome boy is still waiting for someone to choose him. 💙

Puff has had zero adoption interest, and honestly…we just don’t understand it. Because once you meet Puff, it’s hard not to wonder how anyone could pass him by.

He’s goofy, loving, playful, and incredibly eager to please. He’s the kind of dog who wants nothing more than to be near his people, learn new things, and soak up every ounce of affection he can get. He’s doing so well in his foster home, and we know his person is out there. We just need to help them find each other.

Hazel Update: We got Hazel home last night, and she has been in really good spirits and on some really good drugs!

We truly cannot thank everyone enough who donated to Hazel, whether it was $1 or $100s. Every single donation meant so much to us. And even if all you did was share her story, you helped save her life.

I am beyond grateful and honestly blown away that we were able to raise enough for her surgery in just a few short hours. The last thing I ever want to do is say yes to an expensive emergency pull and have to use funds that are needed for the dogs already in our care. Because of all of you, we didn’t have to make that choice.

Hazel’s surgery may be over, her story isn’t.

She will still need post-op care, a more permanent foster home once she is healed, basic vetting including heartworm testing, vaccines, preventatives and more, and eventually her spay. Her surgery was just the beginning of her medical treatment with us.

🚨 URGENT PLEA — WE NEED YOUR HELP TODAY 🚨

We received an urgent plea from Livewell Animal Hospital of South End asking us to help this sweet girl, and we simply couldn’t say no. 💔

She came to from a neglect case, and what she endured is heartbreaking. She was found with a rope tightly tied around her leg, leaving her severely injured. She was covered in maggots and fleas, and her condition was truly devastating.

Despite everything she has been through, she is still fighting. ❤️‍🩹

Unfortunately, her leg is too badly damaged and needs to be amputated. She will be undergoing surgery at Best Care Animal Hospital, but we need your help to make it happen.

💰 WE NEED TO RAISE $1,500 TODAY FOR HER AMPUTATION.
