Choate Construction Company has taken on the challenge of participating in the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's 33.4 mile Xtreme Hike event to support the mission of the foundation...find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis. Beginning this year, a team of hikers representing Choate Constructions 5 southeastern United States offices will embark on a 3 month training adventure culm
inating in a day-long, 33.4 mile hike of the Appalachian trail near Asheville, NC. While this is a team fundraising event, each hiker will be completing the full 33.4 miles in approximately 12 hours beginning at 4am on Saturday April 20th, 2013. Training has begun and hikers are participating in a rigorous gambit of weekly hikes to prepare themselves for the trail ahead. We are calling on our most respected vendors and subcontractors to help support this cause. Your 100% tax deductible donations will help raise money to battle this genetically inherited disease and perhaps add years to the lives of those currently afflicted. Your donations will also help each Choate Construction participant achieve their minimum $3000 fundraising goal. We have decided to take on this challenge to raise awareness as well as money for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a life-threatening genetic disease that affects the lungs and digestive systems of approximately 30,000 children and adults in the United States. Research and care supported by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is making a huge difference in extending and improving the quality of life for those with CF, however, we continue to lose at least one precious life to CF each day. We are taking on this extreme endeavor in order to be a part of something bigger than ourselves. Many children and adults with CF will not have the opportunity to take on a mountain or experience the wilderness without real progress toward a cure. We are doing this not only to accomplish personal goals, but to raise money so that one day, children and young adults with CF will be able to live a normal, healthy life. It provides us with great strength and courage to know that our actions are contributing to such a worthy cause. The Foundation is on the verge of incredible scientific breakthroughs which could actually be ‘the cure’ but they cannot do it without vital funding.
