Through our partnership with Deloris Jordan, founder of the Kenya Women & Children's Wellness Centre and Novant Health Foundation's Global Health Ambassador, Kim Henderson, Novant Health executive vice president & chief administrative officer, and Onyeka N . Nchege, Novant Health executive vice president and chief digital & information officer recently visited the centre and spent time with a few of its board members and leaders

Together, they shared best practices, learned from one another and explored ways to strengthen healthcare for women, children and families across communities.

As Mrs. Jordan said, "Education and quality healthcare are basic human needs and should be available to everyone, especially those who need them most."

Residents from Southport, St. James, Oak Island, Caswell Beach and surrounding communities recently came together for Coffee with Kevin: Community Conversation on Cardiac Care.

At the event, Kevin Briggs, president of Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center, shared how they are planning for Brunswick County’s continued growth and expanding access to care close to home, and Dr. George McLeod shared on heart health and the new cardiac catheterization lab, which will bring advanced cardiac care closer to home.

It was a meaningful opportunity for residents to hear directly from local healthcare leaders, ask questions and learn more about the future of care in Brunswick County.

Meet Nathanael Obeng, a social work intern who is gaining hands-on experience while helping patients access the care and resources they need.

From meeting with patients in the clinic and conducting follow-up calls to serving our community through the Novant Health Community Care Cruiser, Nathanael is seeing firsthand how social work improves lives and strengthens communities.

Programs like the Novant Health Foundation-funded Social Work Intern Pipeline Program (SWIPP) help prepare the next generation of healthcare professionals while increasing support for patients facing barriers to health and well-being.
