This cute little basket has been a game changer for Sunita in India.

Sunita has a disabled daughter and was not able to leave her to go to work. Because of The White Peacock, she has been able to work from home, take care of her daughter, and provide for the both of them.

This Small Recycled Sari Basket with lid takes about 3 hours to make and I love how it’s made out of recycled saris. Each is a one of kind handcrafted piece of art.

Many people think they can’t change the world, I beg to differ. Buying this cute little basket has changed Sunita’s and her daughter’s world.

Let me start off by saying I am a bag nerd. I love analyzing the construction of bags. When we get a new bag, I am looking at every detail, the material, the construction, the functionality, the durability,…EVERYTHING! This is good…FOR YOU! I think about it so you don’t have to. I have designed bags so I am down right picky! I am also not easily impressed.

Last Saturday, I attended a funeral of Mary, a long time customer who also became a friend.

Upon her passing, her daughter reached out to me and said, “My mom and I discussed this and she wanted people to make donations to The Marketplace in lieu of flowers. She loved what The Marketplace was about.”

Rachel with The White Peacock messaged me Saturday morning and mentioned they were going to create a new tailoring school and had 8 out of 15 sewing machines purchased.

We had received funds in honor of Mary and I reached out to Mary’s daughter and asked if Mary sewed. “She did and she was quite good.” What do you think of purchasing 3 sewing machines for a tailoring school in India so more women could learn to sew? “Oh my gosh Marisa! That is amazing!”

I reached back out to Rachel and told her we would like to purchase 3 sewing machines in honor of Mary. “What a wonderful way to leave a legacy and impact a family and future generations. I love this!”

Even though Mary is no longer with us, all of the donations made in her honor are going to help the ladies in India. Her presence will still be felt.

Funerals have a way of reminding us that we are just passing through. How we want to be remembered is how we live our lives. What legacy would you like to leave behind?

God is preparing you for what He created you to do.

The Marketplace didn’t happen overnight. It took years of planning, studying, and praying. I have journal after journal chronicling all the doors God opened along the way.

I am a huge proponent for journaling because while you think nothing was happening, He was actually laying the groundwork work for what He created you to do.

I can open up all of my journals and see how each step was so important to where The Marketplace is today.

My journaling time is sacred. It’s my time to sit with the Lord, be quiet, and write down everything He says. Some of you may be saying, “He doesn’t say anything to me.” Well, I would ask are you being quiet long enough to listen? 🙊

If you are looking for a special journal to write in, we have many to choose from. All are handmade and have a story of their own. Let me know if I can help you find the perfect one.

Even if you don’t buy a journal from us, please take a moment and carve out time to journal.

Is what you once loved not doing it for you anymore?

It’s time for a refresh!

Refresh? Yep- it’s when you take different items you already own and give it new life by changing it’s location or purpose. Just add a couple of small things and voila it’s new again!

I did that with my Master bath! I needed a change. So, I hunted for things I had in my house and moved them! I then added a couple of inexpensive plants ones you don’t have to water. 😉

Now it’s fresh again! My master bath is now perfect spa getaway to battle the winter blahs!

Here’s the fun part- now I can move the woven tray and basket to another room!

A refresh doesn’t have to cost a lot! Just use what you have, your imagination, and add a couple of new inexpensive pieces!

So who needs a refresh? 🙋🏻‍♀️

We started with 2 sizes, then added a 3rd, and delved into curated fabrics! You kept saying, “YES!” so I kept going! 🏃🏻‍♀️

Why are we wired to look at the negative and beat ourselves up over what we did wrong in 2021? This sets up our new year on a wrong perspective.

What if we instead focus on the positive and head into a new year with gratitude and anticipation? Let’s celebrate what went right in 2021 and create more of those moments.

Let’s be kinder to ourselves, celebrate the small victories, and create lasting memories.

Take a moment in the next few days to remember all the good things in 2021, however, small they may be. Write them down. I think you might surprise yourself with how many things you put down.
