On 05/30/2023 Detectives with the Stanly County Sheriff’s Office received a report in reference to a sexual assault that involved a juvenile victim. Subsequent to an investigation Detectives charged and arrested Lawrence (Larry) Wilkins. Wilkins was charged with four counts of Indecent Liberties with a Child and four counts of Sexual Battery. Wilkins has an initial court date of 06/13/2023.

On June 6, 2023, Detectives with the Stanly County Sheriff’s Office and Norwood Police Department conducted a traffic stop on Frank Yang. During the course of the investigation, which included a vehicle search, and a residential search warrant, approximately 27.4 grams of methamphetamine, approximately 20.72 grams of co***ne, approximately 143.2 grams of mushrooms, approximately 34.6 grams of Sch VI, and 2 fi****ms, which are unlawful for Yang to possess, were seized.

Frank Yang was arrested and charged with the following:
Possession of firearm by felon
Possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver Schedule I
Possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver Schedule II
Possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver methamphetamine
Possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver Schedule VI
Maintaining vehicle/dwelling place for controlled substances
Possession of drug paraphernalia

Sheriff Crisco, along with Investigators from the Stanly County Sheriff’s Office, would like to thank the multiple citizens that have reached out over the past week in reference to the on-going issues on Austin Road. On 05/12/2023 Investigators arrested Dennis Kipp Park for his involvement in these crimes. Detectives will continue to investigate any information regarding Mr. Park’s involvement. ***CRIMINAL ACTIVITY ALERT***

At approximately 11:58 am on November 9th, Locust officers attempted to stop a vehicle for a suspected felony larceny. The white male driver of the vehicle attempted to flee from the vehicle on foot in the vicinity of the State Employee's Credit Union on Red Bridge Boulevard.

Locust officers including K-9 Rico and multiple other agencies conducted a search for the suspect in the area. Rico successfully tracked the suspect to an area just off of Reed Mine Road near Highway 24/27.

The suspect was taken into custody without incident at approximately 12:18 pm and there are NO other suspects on the run in the area. More details to follow.
