ter his career as a professional basketball player, he had to hire someone to read to him and take care of his bills. He only finished with a 3rd-grade education. Norman lamented about his state in a newspaper interview in 1981, saying: “I’m a living legend, but I’m nothing. I’m living like a bum. People in town treat me like I’m important, but I’m a tramp.”
While he had a high school diploma and attended two junior colleges, he considered himself illiterate. This prompted his son to come up with a company that would help other athletes gain a good education first before pursuing a career in sports. Our company was born.
