Just received this ::

"It is time for Drumstrong 2026. May 30, MistyMeadows Farm. For those that don’t know, it is a 501c that raises money for cancer research and support for those who suffer and their loved ones. I googled drumming as healing and got this:

Therapeutic drumming uses rhythm and percussion to promote emotional, mental, and physical healing, supported by both
ancient traditions and modern research.

Our sons Tucker, and Corson were in grade school. Tucker was learning to play drums and asked to go to Drumstrong. That’s where we first met Scott Swimmer and his family.

Years passed until one day my wife, Kimberly, took Corson to the doctor again for a sore leg. He was diagnosed with osteo-sarcoma, bone cancer.

After a while, in the middle of our anguish and determination, Kimberly remembered Scott Swimmer and called.

Scott and his son, Mason (a survivor of the same form of cancer), came to the house. Corson had begun chemo, and there was not a hair on him. He had lost a lot of weight. He was withdrawn. We had not seen his smile in a while.

The Swimmers brought what is more simply called a hand pan percussion instrument. We sat in relative darkness, blinds drawn because the light hurt Corson’s eyes. It was as if God had reached down and planted Scott and Mason there.

Mason began to play the hand pan. My heart rose, then, misty-eyed, I glanced at Corson. He was smiling.

They became part of our support system. They became part of our lives.

We are but one of the many thousands that have been touched and healed and supported by Drumstrong.

I hope and pray that you can join us. I hope and pray that one more time, you might reach deep and give to all the folks who suffer from this insidious, devastating disease. I hope and pray that you will come heal with us.

The boys turned 29 years old yesterday. We laughed, talked and played horseshoes.

I wrote the following ten years ago after the first Drumstrong Corson could help with:

“What is “Drumstrong'? It is in a word … healing. I know no greater example of this than my bone-weary son and survivor, Corson. flushed with fatigue as the full moon light washed his mud-splattered face. There had been heavy rain. The horse farm was a muddy mess.

Concerned, I admonished him,
“You are over tired. You need to rest.’

“I can’t… they’re stuck in the mud. I can’t leave them hanging.”

I realized that at least for this short spell, Corson was free.

He is sleeping now. I suspect he will do so for quite some time.

Thank you Drumstrong because for a while … you have set all of us free.

Peace …
scott hicks"
