ICYMI: Leadership in hazing prevention deserves to be recognized—and shared.

Hazing Prevention Network, in partnership with Penn State’s Timothy J. Piazza Center for Fraternity and Sorority Research and Reform and with support from RealResponse, is accepting applications and nominations for the new Leadership in Hazing Prevention Awards.

These awards recognize campuses and organizations demonstrating meaningful leadership and a sustained commitment to preventing hazing. We’re looking for efforts that put prevention into practice through education, collaboration, research-informed strategies, assessment, and continuous improvement.

The goal isn’t perfection. It’s progress, leadership, and a commitment to creating safer, healthier environments where everyone can belong without being hazed.

Know a campus or organization doing meaningful work? Nominate them—or share your own efforts.

Applications and nominations are open through December 31. Recipients will be recognized in the spring.

Lead the work. Strengthen prevention.

ICYMI: As we observe , we want to again recognize our 2026 Hank Nuwer Anti-Hazing Hero Award recipients and the important ways they are advancing hazing prevention.

Alisa Hayes, MD, MSAM of the Medical College of Wisconsin brings an important medical perspective to hazing prevention. After recognizing a gap in awareness around hazing-related injuries, Dr. Hayes helped conduct and publish research designed to better equip healthcare professionals to recognize potential hazing injuries and help prevent future harm.

Thank you, Dr. Hayes, for using research, education, and medicine to advance hazing prevention.

At its worst, hazing can take lives.

During National Hazing Prevention Week, we pause to remember the lives taken far too soon because of hazing. We remember the sons and daughters, brothers and sisters, teammates and friends who should still be here today.

We extend our deepest condolences to the families and friends who carry those losses every day.

And we offer our profound gratitude to the families who, in the midst of unimaginable loss, have chosen to speak out, educate others, advocate for change, and work tirelessly so that another family does not have to experience what they have endured.

We remember. We honor. And we recommit ourselves to preventing hazing.

ICYMI: As we observe , we want to again recognize our 2026 Hank Nuwer Anti-Hazing Hero Award recipients and the important ways they are advancing hazing prevention.

Gina Merritt-Epps, Esq., International First Vice President of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, has helped expand the organization’s “Finer Women Don’t Haze” program and strengthen anti-hazing policies and reporting processes. Her leadership also helped create A Pledge for Life, a customized educational experience that has reached more than 3,000 members.
