Breaking hamfest news!

It’s officially Spring! The weather is warming up, everything is in full bloom, and our hamfest is just under 3 months away! As you’re making your summer plans, we hope you’ll include us on July 25th, 2026 at the Smokey Mountain Event Center in Waynesville, NC.

Forum presentation schedule announced!

9:00 AM - Making Music: Creating The Ultimate Hamfest Theme Song - Zach Thompson (KM4BLG) - In this presentation, Zach will take you behind the scenes with CQ DX and the 73’s to take an inside look into creating the WCARS Hamfest bluegrass theme song we’ve all come to love!

9:30 AM - ARRL Update - Marv Hoffman (WA4NC) - In this presentation, NC Section Manager Marv Hoffman will discuss the latest developments with the American Radio Relay League’s work to enhance amateur radio for everyone.

11:00 AM - Intro To TinySA - Rick Montel (KW4MQ) - In this presentation, Rick will discuss the popular TinySA family of affordable spectrum analyzers and why every ham should have one.

Foxhunt!
Weather permitting, our hidden transmitter hunt will begin at 10:15 am. The transmitter will be located somewhere on the fairgrounds property. 2m frequency will be announced over the PA system in the main building at the start time. First one to find it wins a special prize!

Claiming your prize: If you’re lucky enough to be the first one to find the fox, you’ll find a prize voucher taped to the transmitter. Remove this voucher and bring it to the club table (near the ticket drum) to claim your prize. Please leave the transmitter where you found it so that others can also enjoy finding it.
