This week we’re celebrating Qween Jean for becoming the first openly Black transgender woman to win a Tony Award for Best Costume Design for Cats: The Jellicle Ball. Cats: The Jellicle Ball

Her work reminds us that ballroom isn’t a trend. It’s a culture. It’s a community. It’s a legacy built by Black and Brown LGBTQ+ people whose influence can be seen across fashion, music, dance, and entertainment.

Qween Jean continues to use her platform to advocate for Black trans lives while creating art that moves culture forward.
