Celebrating Scholarship. Empowering Futures.

On May 16, the Charlotte (NC) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated proudly recognized its newest class of scholarship recipients at our annual luncheon at Dressler’s Restaurant.

This year, we awarded 17 scholarships — representing an investment of more than $120,000 in education, leadership, and future success. 📚✨

Our scholarship efforts now extend beyond our local village, including support for middle school girls in Ghana’s Eastern Region as they transition into boarding school. 🌍

With more than 200 scholars supported over the years, our commitment to academic excellence and service remains strong.

This Memorial Day, we take a moment to reflect and remember those who lost their lives in military service, while also uplifting the often-overlooked contributions of Black women who have served with courage, skill, and resilience.

Black women have long played vital roles in our military history, even when their service went unrecognized or undervalued. Their commitment, leadership, and perseverance have shaped outcomes, supported troops, and strengthened communities both on and off the battlefield.

One powerful example is the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion, the only all-Black, all-female unit to serve overseas during World War II. Tasked with clearing a massive backlog of mail for U.S. troops in Europe, these women worked tirelessly under challenging conditions, restoring a crucial connection between soldiers and their loved ones. Their efforts boosted morale and demonstrated extraordinary dedication and excellence.
Today, we honor their legacy, and the many Black women whose service and sacrifice continue to impact generations.

🌸 Happy Mother’s Day 🌸

Today, we celebrate every expression of motherhood, the love, wisdom, and care that shows up in so many forms.
We honor birth mothers, adoptive mothers, foster mothers, stepmothers, grandmothers, aunties, godmothers, chosen mothers, and mother figures. We also hold space for those who are grieving, those navigating complicated relationships, those longing to become mothers, and those who mother in ways that may go unseen.
Motherhood is not one story, it’s many. And each one deserves recognition.
To those who show up with a mother’s heart, offering guidance, protection, patience, and love, your impact shapes lives and builds legacies. 💖

💬 We’d love to hear from you:
What’s a lesson from a mother or mother figure that continues to guide you today? Let’s celebrate the many expressions of motherhood and the wisdom carried through them.

🧠💚 May is Mental Health Awareness Month

This month, we’re centering the wellness, softness, and strength of Black women, honoring not just what we carry, but how we care for ourselves.
In a world that often expects Black women to be everything for everyone, choosing rest, boundaries, and healing is a powerful act. Mental health is health, and protecting your peace is essential, not optional.
This May, we’re leaning into:
✨ Honest conversations
✨ Support without stigma
✨ Boundaries without guilt
✨ Joy, healing, and alignment
Whether it’s therapy, faith, rest, movement, or community, take what you need and make space for yourself. You deserve that. Always. 💜

💚✨ Celebrating Excellence in Service ✨💚

Congratulations to The Johnson Family of SB&J Enterprises on being honored as Carlenia Ivory-Cantey Community Impact Honorees at the UNCF Mayor’s Masked Ball this past March!

We are especially proud to celebrate this remarkable family within our Links sisterhood. As an alumna member, Sue Johnson continues to exemplify a legacy of leadership and service, while her daughters, Yolanda and Rhonda Johnson, carry that legacy forward as active members of our chapter.
Their recognition is a testament to what we know to be true—service is not just what we do within The Links, Incorporated, but how we show up and lead in the broader community every day.

Thank you for your unwavering commitment, impact, and dedication to uplifting others. Your legacy continues to inspire us all. 💫
