Salisbury Public Art

Salisbury Public Art The Public Arts Commission is a board of the City of Salisbury. This site is intended to serve as a mechanism for communication between the public and the PAC.

All contents are public and subject to the NC Public Records Statute. Salisbury is a unique city with historic main street charm where public art is a mainstay in the city’s physical, cultural and economic profile. The Salisbury Sculpture Show provides an appealing venue for artists as it engages residents and visitors with different styles of art, generates citizen input, and cultivates art patrons for the community.

Beginning in front of the Rowan Public Library at the corner of S Church and W Fisher Streets at noon, join us for the unveiling of eight poems in our downtown. A specialty kaleidoscope lotus break at Koco Java awaits at our halfway mark. Hope to see you there!

View artworks by Rowan-Cabarrus Art & Design students created in response to community poetry. Light refreshments provided by the Rowan-Cabarrus Community College Foundation.

Friday, April 24: An Evening with Jaki Shelton Green, NC Poet Laureate
6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. | North Campus, Building N105, Auditorium
A special performance by North Carolina’s Poet Laureate and the Rowan Youth Choir. Sponsored by the Rowan Arts Council.

Saturday, April 25: Sidewalk Poetry Unveiling & Community Walk
12:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. | Starting at Rowan Public Library Headquarters
Join us for a short ceremony followed by a 1.25-mile "Parade of Prose" through Downtown Salisbury to unveil the new sidewalk poetry installations.

The City of Salisbury Public Arts Commission invites mural artists to submit their best *musical themed* designs to adorn Sergeant Pepper's Alley in downtown Salisbury.

Designs *do not* need to use the whole wall surface. This is up to the artist. Movement across the wall encouraged!

Deadline to apply is Monday, April 20, 2026 (midnight)

This project is made possible through the Rowan Arts Council and NC Arts Council Grassroots Grant, the Blanche and Julian Robertson Family Foundation, LMY, Inc., as well as support from Salisbury City Council.
