We were excited to celebrate the 89th Birthday of Atrium Health Cabarrus yesterday. It all began with the vision and generosity of Mr. Charles A. Cannon and Mr. George A. Batte, Jr., who believed Cabarrus County deserved access to exceptional healthcare close to home.
As we celebrate 89 years of caring for our community, we also honor the legacy that made it all possible. In 1937, inspired by the growing needs of families and employees of Cannon Mills, Mr. Cannon and Mr. Batte created Cabarrus Memorial Hospital. The small private "sick house" on Union Street could no longer meet the needs of a rapidly growing community and a new chapter of local healthcare began.
What started as a 46-bed and 10 bassinet hospital has evolved from a small, county-owned facility into the now 457 licensed beds, multiple clinical services, substantial inpatient and outpatient network with over 380 physicians and over 4,000 employees. While healthcare has changed over the last 89 years and continues to change each day, one thing has remained, our unwavering commitment to providing HEALTH, HOPE AND HEALING FOR ALL.
This journey began with generosity and continues today with generosity from our donors and supporters just like you. We THANK YOU for your support yesterday, today and the future as we continue to CELEBRATE CARE AND HONOR OUR LEGACY!
