Beginning at age 18, Ricky Jackson spent 39 years in an Ohio prison for a crime he didn't commit, the longest prison term for an exonerated defendant in American history.

The sole evidence against him was the false, coerced eyewitness testimony of a 13-year-old boy. No physical or forensic evidence linked him to the crime and he had no prior criminal record. 🖤

Jackson was exonerated after the key witness recanted and admitted he did not witness the crime at all, saying Cleveland police had fed him the information.

He walked in at 18. He walked out at 59. The system failed him completely.
