Each week, children (ages birth to 5) bring home a different bag filled with four children's books to share with their families. has been proud to implement Raising A Reader (RAR) since 2008. works with families and communities to ensure that all children have access to high-quality, affordable early learning and school-age experiences and opportunities that enable them to succeed in school and in

It is RAR’s belief that strengthening families and early literacy can be a cornerstone in creating equity and opportunity for all. We’re thrilled to bring back our popular Bookmark Contest for the third year in a row! From March 1–31, students in grades K–12 are invited to design a bookmark inspired by this year’s Summer Reading theme: A Universe of Stories. Winners will have their designs printed and distributed across all Charlotte Mecklenburg Library locations! For full contest details and entry guidelines, visit your local branch.
