Bert Costner, Brenda Costner, Leah Lonon Costner and Steve Costner moved the peanuts into the exhibit hall and set up the booth today! Please visit the booth during the fair and purchase our Exchange Club peanuts! All the profit funds the club's many local scholarships and charity donations.

Our new 2026-2027 Shelby club officers were installed this evening by North Carolina Exchange Club District 6 Director Marie Watts. Installed were Bert Costner - Secretary; Chuck Mathewson - President; Gerald Ronald Charles Shook - immediate past President; Steve Costner - Treasurer and Brenda Costner - board member.
Brenda Costner gave a report on Steve's and her Durham NC North Carolina District Exchange Club convention trip. At a luncheon there the Shelby Exchange Club's 2026 ACE Award winner, Jasmine Johnson, was presented with the North Carolina District Exchange Club 2026 ACE award and scholarship.
Exchange Club Volunteer Field Representative Vickie Ketchie presented the 2025-2026 National Service Award to our Shelby Club.

Today Brenda and I traveled to Durham to the 2026 North Carolina District Exchange Club state convention to introduce our Shelby club's 2026 ACE (Accepting the Challenge of Excellence) Award and club scholarship winner, Crest High School grad, Jasmine Johnson. At the convention today she accepted the North Carolina District Exchange Club ACE award and scholarship! She was introduced by our club member, Brenda Costner. A past Shelby and state ACE award winner, Caleb Osborne, presented to her an award plaque and scholarship check.
Another 2026 state ACE award winner, Laney Pasell, from Huntersville NC received her plaque and scholarship as well.

On May 19th 2026 club member Brenda Costner represented our Shelby Exchange Club at the Crest High School Senior Scholarship Program. She introduced our Shelby XC's 2026 ACE and NC state District ACE winner Jasmine Johnson.

Club members Brenda Costner and Steve Costner represented our club at the recent Habitat For Humanity Crawford Home Dedication. New home owner Ashley Crawford was presented with a Lowe's gift card on behalf to our club.
Habitat For Humanity provides a stepping stone for home ownership for eligible families.

Our club elected its 2026-2027 officers at its May meeting last night and will installed at its June meeting. Chuck Mathewson - President; Sean-Jennifer Hickman (Sean) - Vice President; Bert Costner - Secretary and Steve Costner - Treasurer.
The 2026 club ACE Award winner was Crest High Student Jasmine Johnson who was present for announcement. She is now eligible to be considered for the North Carolina District ACE Award. Congratulations and good luck Jasmine!
The club's program was presented by Amy Allen of Habitat For Humanity. She gave an overview of her organization's work. She was presented a club donation check by club member Travis Repman.
Exchange Club 2025 - 2026 Division 6 Director Marie Watts and 2026 - 2027 Division 6 Director Bill Anderson were special guests. Watts shared NC Exchange info with our members.

Our Shelby Exchange Club awarded an ACE (Accepting the Challenge of Excellence) award and scholarship check this evening to Pinnacle Classical Academy student Adorian Burrus. 🌟 PCA high school counselor Dr Caswell Martin introduced Burrus to the club.

Harriett Institute Co-Founder Elizabeth J Champion presented an outline and explanation of the institute's focus on the prevention of s*x trafficking and domestic violence. Club President-elect Chuck Mathewson presented her with a club donation check towards the Institute's ongoing work.

At our March club meeting we honored two ACE (Accepting the Challenge of Excellence) students - Burns High School student Bobby "Joey" Kenney and Crest High School student Jasmine Johnson. The club awarded scholarship checks to both students.
Pastors Johnny Jr Norris and Tracy Norris of Royal Priesthood Biker Church were our program. RPBC does much good in our community from helping/caring the homeless community, conducting regular church services and assisting needy individuals seek help in the appropriate places. The club presented the church with a donation check and an appreciation certificate for its ongoing community work.

The Exchange Club of Shelby, NC at its February meeting honored two outstanding Cleveland County high schools students. Club member Brenda Costner presented each with the Exchange Club's ACE Award and a scholarship check -
Kings Mountain High student Sean McCurry and Shelby High School student Jamyri'ah Allen. McCurry was introduced by KM Principal Melissa Wilson and Allen was introduced by his SHS teacher Kaitlyn Acuff. Both students were accompanied by their parents.
The meeting's program was presented by the Association for the Welfare of Animals member Sherry Crowder. She gave an overview of her group's work and dedication to the spay/neutering and care of cats and dogs. An Exchange Club donation check was presented to her for her group.

The club's first meeting of 2026 - January 13th - had as its program Kings Mountain Crisis Ministries Executive Director Lisa Harrison. Harrison spoke of the ministries' mission and the opportunities that volunteers can contribute. Club member Dr Sean Hickman presented Harrison a club donation check.
Also, the club honored Cleveland County Early College student Taylor Whaley with the Exchange Club ACE (Accepting the Challenge of Excellence) award. CCEC representative Molly Faucette introduced Whaley. Club member Brenda Costner presented a certificate and scholarship check to Whaley.
Exchange Club Divsion 6 Director Marie Watts and Exchange Club Volunteer Field Rep Paul Summerfield were special guests.
