Access to Success

Access to Success At A2S we provide sustainable programs that generate positive change for Nigerian children and their communities. http://a2sfoundation.org government.

A2S, a Christian-based nonprofit with a focus on sports and education, was founded by former Davidson College Men’s Basketball player Andrew Lovedale out of his continued desire to give back to his native Nigeria and share his philosophy of sports, faith and education with underprivileged youth. During his time on the men’s basketball team at Davidson College, Lovedale collected basketball shoes a

nd practice gear discarded by teammates to take home to Nigeria each summer for less fortunate players. Lovedale launched Kicks from ‘Cats: The Andrew Lovedale Shoe Drive in February of 2009, which collected more than 10,500 pairs of shoes and $15,000. After more than 300 members of the Davidson community processed the shoes, Lovedale and Nigerian teammate Frank Ben-Eze traveled with a team of Davidson students, staff and alumni to deliver the shoes and run basketball clinics in the pair’s hometown of Benin City, Nigeria in June of 2009. Lovedale returned to Davidson and began the planning for A2S in order to continue his work in Nigeria and impact the lives of underprivileged youth through training in sports, faith and education. In September 2010 A2S was incorporated in Davidson, North Carolina, and in July 2011 received its 501(c)(3) status from the U.S. A2S currently operates in Benin City, Nigeria, and once a sustainable model is built through research and community partnership, plans to expand to other cities in Nigeria and eventually, worldwide.

Our young stewards brought their thinking caps during the Mini Entrepreneurship Challenge organized by our dedicated library team!

Through real-world business scenarios, the kids explored leadership, teamwork, financial management, and creative problem-solving. They confidently stepped into roles such as CEOs, financial officers, marketing leads, and staff members, each taking ownership of their responsibilities with excellence.

At A2S, we expose our After School Academy Kids to hands-on activities that challenge their creativity, sharpen their thinking, and inspire them to build innovative ideas.

The After School Academy is an ecosystem within A2S that serves over 250 kids through programs designed to foster agency, empower choices, and raise Godly stewards.

We are not just raising children who can make choices, we are raising young people who understand how their choices reflect purpose and honor God.

As you continue to think about ways to create meaningful change, you can support a child at the A2S After School Academy and become part of a journey that is shaping future leaders.

Our Career Guidance Counsellor, Mrs. Sarah Imuzai, led an impactful career talk session for 96 ASA Kids.

The session explored two powerful themes: Storytelling as a Professional Superpower and Visual Intelligence.

Through engaging storytelling challenges, reflective discussions, visual thinking exercises, and interactive Q&A sessions, the ASA Kids were encouraged to connect their personal stories, strengths, and creativity to real career opportunities.

At A2S, we are intentional about preparing our kids for the future by exposing them to practical, modern skills that go beyond academic learning. From storytelling to career development, we are raising young minds equipped with strategic thinking, innovation, and problem-solving abilities.

Mary, Omofeba, Angel, and Margaret are proud alumni of the Access To Success Scholarship Program, and their journeys reflect remarkable growth, resilience, and consistency.

From the onset, each scholar demonstrated a strong sense of purpose and remained steadfast in pursuing their academic, personal, and professional goals despite the challenges encountered along the way.

It has been inspiring to witness their transformation from ambitious students into accomplished professionals making meaningful contributions within their respective fields. Through discipline, dedication, and hard work, Angel and Margaret successfully became Certified Nurses, while Mary pursued her passion and earned certification as a Physiotherapist and Omofeba stayed resilient and became a Certified Radiographer.

Their stories serve as powerful reminders of what can be achieved when determination is met with the right support system and opportunities. Beyond their individual accomplishments, they have become role models for younger scholars, inspiring others to pursue excellence with courage and consistency.

Their achievements stand as a testament to the impact of opportunity, perseverance, and the commitment to keep moving forward, even when the journey is challenging.
