On September 22, state and local leaders, traffic safety organizations, and community members will gather at Twisted Oak American Bar & Grill in Downtown Statesville for conversations focused on the traffic safety issues facing North Carolina.

Hosted by NC Senator Vickie Sawyer, the day will include presentations, group discussions, and opportunities to share perspectives on making travel safer across our state.

BIG NEWS for Iredell County tourism! 🎉

According to newly released data from Visit North Carolina and Tourism Economics, visitors spent $441.37 million across Iredell County in 2025, an increase of 2.8% over the previous year.

That growth was more than double North Carolina’s statewide rate of 1.3%, making Iredell one of 59 counties to report an increase.

The countywide impact is something worth celebrating:

✅ 2,564 tourism-related jobs supported
✅ $101.29 million generated in personal income
✅ $30.57 million generated in state and local tax revenue
✅ $143.39 saved by each Iredell County resident, on average, in state and local taxes

🎬✨ We got to sneak behind the curtain… and wow, what an experience!

Today, we joined one of the producers from PBS NC Weekend for an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at Key To Escape.

From watching the game masters orchestrate every clue behind the scenes to seeing the incredible map filled with pins from guests across the country (and around the world!), it’s easy to see why people make the trip to Statesville for this one-of-a-kind experience.

What started as a creative idea has become a destination that brings families, friends, coworkers, and travelers together to laugh, solve puzzles, and make memories. That’s exactly the kind of attraction that helps make Statesville a place worth discovering.

A huge thank you to Kim and Roger for opening the doors and letting us experience the magic from the other side. We can’t wait for everyone to see their story.

Beauty Street is not currently flooding, but water has risen to the top of the culvert. If you're traveling in the area, please use extra caution, as conditions can change quickly with rainfall.

⚠️ Road Conditions Update – Heavy Rain & Flooding ⚠️

Heavy rain is causing flooding on roads across Statesville. If you don't have to be out, please stay home until conditions improve.

We will continue to update this post as we receive reports of flooded roads and closures.

If you see flooding or a road hazard that hasn't been reported yet, please drop it in the comments so others can stay informed. (Please do not drive through flooded roadways to check conditions.)

🚧 Current Closure:
• E. Broad Street at Beechwood Road (I-77 ramp) is currently closed due to an auto accident involving a tree and power lines.

⚠️ Remember: Turn Around, Don't Drown. It only takes a small amount of moving water to sweep a vehicle away.

Please use caution, slow down, and avoid flooded areas.
