Day 1 of SUA CASA 2026…started the event with a Capoeira Community class in the park! Fun times with Mestre Ivan M. Ivan

We are excited for our event! Each year we overjoyed to who joins near and far. As organizers, we do our best to bring our community together through thoughtful programming and engaging workshops. 🥁💃🏽

💫 SUA CASA is a collaboration between the NC Brazilian Arts Project and QC Ginga Project founded on celebrating the rich history of the Afro-Brazilian and African diasporic arts that we practice through building and strengthening community. Together we view these arts as forms of resistance and call to action against the injustices and inequalities that continue to exist in our societies.

We are affiliated with the International Capoeira School ICS Oficial (International Capoeira School - Mestre Esquilo) and under the supervison of Mestre Esquilo Bruno Melo

📢📢📢SUA CASA 2026 ANNOUNCEMENT 📢📢📢

🌟Year 7 of SUA CASA will be very different from all of the rest.

💫This year will the first formatura for the International Capoeira School of Charlotte . This is a big next step for our teachers, and they are grateful their community will be present to witness their promotion. This opportunity to be recognized by their teachers Mestre Esquilo and Mestre Zumbi , their peers, their students, but most importantly by their community will be special moment for each of them.

We are excited for those that will be with us in-person and for those that are not able to make it, still send us some love.

📣📣📣 Catch Lady V debut of her latest piece : ❌“Crossroads”❌ around 7:30 p.m. at the Viva Collective on Friday, June 19th.

🎙️Her powerful WORDS give even more meaning to the themes we are considering this year. We are all at a Crossroads. We need to make a choice on how best to continue, we pray for guidance on how best to proceed. We are inspired by the innate, levity and freedom of the monarch butterfly 🦋 🦋

🎤It symbolizes our freedom to migrate, move, dance, confront, and unite. 🪘🥁

Tap into the powerful conduit for UNITY that is facilitated by Capoeira and many other African Diasporic traditions by joining us At SUA CASA 2026.

These traditions have given all of us so much. They teach us about our true history, they celebrate survival in the face of oppression. They give us tools to build community despite living in a society that wishes to keep us apart. They bring us health, joy, storytelling and an opportunity for personal expression. We are grateful.

Each year we try to do something different for Sua Casa. We try to incorporate members of our creative community while brining to Charlotte artists from around the US and outside the US together to create a unique cultural experience.
