Adopt-A-Senior South Meck Class of 2020

Still looking for some donations (entire gift bags, OR supplies for bags, like gift cards, candy, snacks):

Fast Food: ABSOLUTE number one is Chick-Fil-A. Like bar none! Also popular are Taco Bell, Bojangles, and Chipotle

Restaurant: Kind of all over the place, but Olive Garden is pretty popular. Also Viva Chicken, Monterrey Mexican Food, Mr. Tokyo

Favorite Candy: Airheads, skittles, sour patch kids, gummy worms and bears, reese's, kit kats **(though we might want to stay away from chocolate, because it will probably melt during the delivery process!)**

Favorite Snacks: ALL OVER THE PLACE. I think they will eat almost anything!

Favorite Stores: Target, Forever 21, Urban Outfitters, TJ Maxx/Marshalls, Dick's, Amazon

Good evening South Meck supporters! Unfortunately, I have not had the response I was hoping fir in recruiting volunteers for this project. I have about 115 volunteers and 676 seniors I am hoping to get covered. So I may have to shift strategies.

Hello supporters of South Mecklenburg Class of 2020! With the blessing of Principal Starnes and the help of various South Meck staff members, we are kicking off an Adopt-a-Senior drive to support this year's senior class. As you all know, this has been a completely unprecedented school year, full of upheaval and challenges unlike anything any of us has ever experienced. In order to help add some sparkle back into an otherwise difficult year, we are looking for volunteers to adopt a South Meck senior to celebrate this wonderful milestone by providing them with a gift basket of their favorite things at graduation. You are welcome to send them occasional cards, notes of encouragement, or even gift cards along the way, but that is not a necessity. You could do a little or a lot! The main goal as to help these kids feel a little extra love from their community.

I will be sending out a questionnaire to the seniors in order to capture a little snapshot of who they are, what they like, and what their future plans are. Unfortunately, because of the opportunity to prey on the vulnerable among our kids, all communication between the student and the sponsor will have to be funneled through South. We have a number of staff who have offered to dedicate time to helping with this project.

What I need from you is help recruiting volunteers. Please send this message page out to as many classmates, parents, alumni, family, and community members as you can to help make sure the ENTIRE senior class is covered. I will try to accommodate requests if you have a particular senior you would like to adopt, but my main concern is making sure we have enough volunteers for everyone.

I have created an email account solely for this purpose. It is [email protected]. Please have anyone interested in adopting a senior send me an email with their contact information. Once I have a good number of volunteers, I will began matching students with volunteers. If volunteers would prefer to make a monetary donation, I will also be collecting funds to be used solely for the purpose of honoring our seniors.
