*****THE PTSD PRAYER*****
Once upon a time,
I fought for love,
Sang for justice,
Banged for truth,
Ran from fear,
And slept with one eye open.
In spite of obstacles,
I kept coping,
Rather good, bad, or the other,
Understanding that truth is,
A vision in a song,
Ordered for the good of wrong,
Sang using a special key,
Yet when home,
I feel obsolete.
By those we protect,
So borders remain free,
We understand liberty,
But the night hour takes and we,
Wake up glazed,
Amazed at my country tis of thee,
Owning the shuffle and crawl,
Brawling for right,
Sometimes it feels wrong,
Then I’m captivated by a vision,
Sweat rolling,
In my mind hidden,
Fighting for light,
Are you f****** kidding me,
But my country tis of thee.
Once upon a time,
I fought for love,
Sang for justice,
Banged for truth,
Ran from fear,
But today,
I'm just living,
Until the next episode,
Praying I don't fold,
So I'm here,
Standing at attention,
Saluting the lost,
Loving the living,
Knowing that I’m not alone,
Brothers and sisters,
I know you hear me,
All Love!
