To the Brave: A Note at the End of Mother’s Day
As Mother’s Day comes to a close, my heart and my work remain focused on the mothers who navigated this day with a heavy heart.
To the mothers who have lost a son to su***de, to the surrogate mothers who stepped into the gap for those no longer with us, and to the mothers currently supporting a child through the shadow of an attempt: I see your bravery.
Days of celebration can often be the most taxing for those in the midst of "Reinvention and Grounding." If today was difficult, please know that you do not have to carry the weight of your grief—or your resilience—alone. There is no "overcoming" this journey, but there is moving through it with the right support.
I encourage you to reach out, to lean on specialized resources, and to prioritize your own healing-centered peace tonight.
Resources for Support:
• The 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline: Call or text 988 anytime (24/7).
• AFSP (American Foundation for Su***de Prevention): For specialized loss support and community.
• NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness): For family support and mental health education.
You have made it through today. That is enough. Be gentle with yourselves.
