Hello , my name is Nicki Leazer. I work for a non profit organization called Piedmont Mediation located in Statesville NC. I am the coordinator for a Restorative justice program called Positive Impact Circles and I am currently looking for Adult and Youth Volunteers in Alexander County. Positive Impact Circle is a Restorative Justice process in partnership with the Juvenile Justice, the Schools and local community.
It is a valuable prevention and intervention tool to help divert at-risk youth from the formal court proceedings to a more appropriate process for them.
Circles provide opportunities for delinquent youth to have positive interactions with non-delinquent youth, along with pro-social adult professionals.
Positive Impact Circle concentrates on the harm done to a person or community, repairing the harm and open dialog.The process teaches the youth to be accountable and to accept responsibility for their actions.Restorative justice programs are based on the belief that parties to a conflict ought to be actively involved in resolving it and mitigating its negative consequences.
