💛 September Fundraising Kickoff

✨ SEPTEMBER GOAL: KEEP THE LIGHT SHINING ✨

Since launching Lane’s Light, we’ve had the privilege of providing 2 meals and $800 in restaurant gift cards to NICU families. 💛

We’re so grateful for every person who has helped us get this far, and we’re ready to keep going.

Our goal for September is to raise $750 to help us:

🍽️ Provide dinner for NICU families
💳 Provide restaurant gift cards to parents spending their days at the hospital
💛 Continue giving NICU parents one less thing to worry about

We know that every family’s NICU journey looks different. Some may be there for a few days, while others may spend weeks or months at their baby’s bedside.

No matter how long the journey, we want parents to know:

While you’re taking care of your baby, we’re thinking about you, too.

Two years ago today, our sweet Lane passed away.

While there are no words to fully capture the love we have for her or the impact she continues to have on our lives, we are grateful for the way her story lives on through Lane’s Light.

During Lane’s four months in the NICU, we experienced firsthand the challenges many families face while showing up day after day for their babies. We also experienced the kindness of those who supported us along the way.

Today, in Lane’s honor, we are working to provide meals and gift cards to NICU families so parents can focus on what matters most, being present with their child.

Every meal served, every gift card delivered, and every family supported is part of the legacy she leaves behind.

We miss her every day, and we are honored to carry her light forward. ✨💛

Speaking from personal experience, the day I gave birth: c-section, my daughter was rushed to NICU because of severe complications. I did not hold my baby, my husband didn’t cut her umbilical cord, no fairy tale story. I had to wait hours to be cleared by my doctor to be sent in a wheelchair to see my sweet girl. Imagine what I was thinking about? Not eating. My daughter was in NICU for exactly 4 months, my husband and I went there every day she remained at the hospital. Thinking back, I should have been healing, and resting. That was the last thing on my mind. Many days eating took a backseat in priorities. I was pumping milk every other hour while at bedside. Stripping nutrients from my body for the sake of my daughter, but not eating much. Mother’s do a lot by being with their ailing infant while in NICU. Lane’s Light was created to remind both parents, and especially a healing mother to take care of yourself by nourishing your body with food, so you can be your best self for your recovering baby💗.

This Thursday, Lane’s Light is honored to help provide dinner for NICU Family Night.

For families spending long days and nights in the hospital with their little ones, we hope this meal brings a moment of comfort, connection, and one less thing to worry about.

Levine Children’s Hospital does an amazing job at making families feel valued and giving an opportunity to hear from parents that have been through similar experiences. 

We’re grateful for every person supporting Lane’s Light and helping us serve these incredible families in honor of our sweet Lane ✨

A meal may seem small, but during a NICU stay, it can mean everything.

We’re so grateful to begin putting donations into action through meals and restaurant gift cards for NICU families. 💛

During our time in the NICU with Lane, we learned how quickly long hospital days can make basic needs like eating become an afterthought. Our hope is to provide one less worry for parents so they can focus on being present with their baby.

We chose gift cards from Chick-fil-A and Panera Bread because both are located inside the hospital we are working with, making them convenient and easily accessible for families spending long days at their baby’s bedside.

Thank you to everyone supporting Lane’s Light and helping us love on NICU families in such a meaningful way. ✨

✨ Welcome to Lane’s Light ✨

Lane’s Light was created in honor of our daughter, Lane Marcelina Barnes.

During our time in the NICU, we experienced what so many families face…long days at the hospital, emotional exhaustion, and the constant pull to be by your baby’s side.

Something as simple as a meal often becomes an afterthought.

That’s where Lane’s Light steps in.

Our mission is to support families with babies in the NICU by providing meals or restaurant gift cards, so parents can focus on what matters most: being present for their child.

Whether a family is there for days, weeks, or longer, we want them to feel supported, seen, and cared for during one of the most challenging times in their lives.

And for families whose journey takes an unexpected turn, we continue to stand beside them with love and compassion.
